The Critics Choice Association revealed the winners of its sixth annual Critics Choice Super Awards on Thursday morning. The show honors the year’s best action, horror, science fiction/fantasy, and superhero titles in film and television.
The Boys and Widow’s Bay topped the TV side with three wins each. The Boys won three of its five nominations, including a tie with Spider-Noir for Best Superhero Series. Antony Starr picked up the other two, taking Best Actor in a Superhero Series and Best Villain in a Series. Widow’s Bay went three-for-three, winning Best Horror Series plus acting trophies for Matthew Rhys and Kate O’Flynn.
Sterling K. Brown also won twice. He took Best Actor in both the action and science fiction/fantasy series categories for Paradise. Pluribus ended the night with two wins: Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Series and Best Actress for Rhea Seehorn.
Four films tied for the most wins with two apiece. The Furious won Best Action Movie and Best Actor for Xie Miao. Superman won Best Superhero Movie and Best Actor for David Corenswet. Obsession won Best Horror Movie and Best Actress for Inde Navarrette. And Project Hail Mary won Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie and Best Actor for Ryan Gosling.
There was one more trophy on the film side, and it went to a dog. Indy, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever who stars in IFC’s Good Boy, won Best Good Boy in a Horror Movie.
