‘Revival’ Finally Gets A Season 2 Update Following Netflix Announcement But It Requires Your Help

One of last year’s best-reviewed supernatural horror series is officially making its way to Netflix US, and it’s bringing a massive opportunity with it. If you want a second season of Revival, it’s time to assemble.

As we previously reported, SYFY’s Revival has been eyeing a Netflix release, and today, we finally have the official details. The complete 10-episode first season is set to drop on Netflix in the United States on August 24, 2026.

But this isn’t just your standard licensing deal—this Netflix drop is serving as a very real audition for Season 2.

If you aren’t familiar with the show yet, you’re in for a treat. Based on the New York Times Best-Selling Image Comics series by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, Revival is not your typical zombie apocalypse story. Set in rural Wisconsin, the series kicks off on a seemingly ordinary day when the recently deceased suddenly return to life. The twist? They’re not walking-dead-style zombies but rather the “revived,” looking exactly as they did before, remembering who they were, and returning to their families as if nothing happened. Of course, that’s not the end of the story, as you’ll find out if you check it out on Netflix when it drops. 

The series boasts a stacked cast led by Wynonna Earp fan-favorite Melanie Scrofano as Dana, alongside Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, Andy McQueen, and Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead, GTA V). The packed ensemble also features Phil Brooks (better known to wrestling fans as CM Punk!), Gia Sandhu, Katharine King So, Nathan Dales, and more.

The Road to Season 2: Why Revival Needs You

Since its original run on SYFY, Revival has proven it has serious streaming legs. When the show hit Peacock, it skyrocketed to No. 1 on the JustWatch charts, Aaron B. Koontz, the showrunner, and cracked the top 5 overall across all streaming titles.

Critics absolutely loved it, too. Season 1 sits at a Certified Fresh 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and even nabbed a 2025 Golden Tomato Award nomination for Best Horror Series—standing toe-to-toe with massive-budget juggernauts like Alien: Earth, The Last of Us, Dexter: Resurrection, and Netflix’s own Stranger Things.

Despite the stellar reviews and streaming numbers, a second season hasn’t been officially greenlit yet. But here is the good news, a new press release from showrunner and co-creator Aaron B. Koontz states that Netflix is open to ordering Season 2 if the show performs well on the platform.

As longtime readers of What’s on Netflix know, the streamer relies heavily on two metrics for renewals: total viewership and completion rates. The creators know this, and they’re passing the baton directly to the fans.

“We have always believed there is a much bigger audience out there for this show,” says co-creator and showrunner Aaron B. Koontz. “The response from the people who found Revival on Peacock was incredible, but Netflix gives it an entirely new life.”

Co-creator and showrunner Luke Boyce echoed the sentiment, making it clear what fans need to do: “There is a lot more story left to tell, so if horror fans want a second season, August 24 is the moment to watch it, finish it and tell people about it.”

How You Can Help Save ‘Revival‘

We’ve seen the “Netflix Bump” save shows like Manifest, Lucifer, and Girls5eva. Revival could absolutely be next, but it requires a grassroots effort from all of you. Here is the playbook for getting us a Season 2:

1. Watch it: Hit play as close to the August 24th premiere date as possible. Opening weekend numbers are huge.
2. Finish it: We can’t stress this enough! Netflix tracks how many people actually reach the end credits of episode 10. Binge it, pace it, whatever you do—just finish the season.
3. Make some noise: Talk about it on X, TikTok, Reddit, and Instagram. Word of mouth is the strongest marketing tool in the world.
