Tonight’s episode of MasterChef trades the kitchen for a castle, as the Top 12 pack their knives and head off to cater a real-life fairytale: the wedding of Season 15 champs Jessica Bosworth and Jesse Rosenwald.

With 50 hungry wedding guests standing between the home cooks and survival, the pressure to deliver a five-star feast has never been higher — and by the end of the night, one team is left praying for a happily ever after that doesn’t involve packing up their apron. Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry, and Joe Bastianich are all in attendance to make sure the happy couple — and 50 very opinionated guests — get a wedding to remember.

The Challenge

There’s no time for cold feet: the Top 12 are split into two teams and handed the ultimate high-pressure assignment — cook a wedding feast worthy of Jessica and Jesse’s big day. As Boston natives, the couple makes their request clear: scallops for the appetizer, duck for the entree. Simple asks on paper, but a minefield for a home cook trying to impress a bride, groom, and 50 wedding guests all at once.

As last week’s challenge winner, Maria gets to hand-pick the teams — and Gordon makes the stakes brutally clear: the winning team is safe from elimination, but at least one home cook on the losing side is going home. Maria doesn’t overthink her decision, reuniting with Team Africa after their partnership already delivered a win in the last team challenge. That leaves Team Asia-Pacific and Team Europe to join forces once again, hoping for a very different outcome this time around. Peter and Aishu are team captains.

The Dishes

Before the dishes go out to the wedding guests, the judges put everything through a taste test first.

Team Red (Asia-Pacific/Europe)
Appetizer: Seared Scallops with Crispy Pancetta and Creamy Polenta
Entree: Duck à l’Orange with Roasted Asparagus and Cauliflower Puree

The taste test doesn’t go their way. Gordon calls the scallops “bland” and says they’re nowhere near seasoned, while Tiffany compares the polenta to cream of wheat. It doesn’t get better at the entree: the sauce is “terrible” and the duck is underseasoned, prompting Tiffany to declare it’s “not MasterChef quality at all.” It’s back to the drawing board for Team Red, who now have to scramble to fix the seasoning before service.

Team Blue (Americas/Africa)
Appetizer: Seared Scallops with Crispy Pancetta, Golden Beet Frisée Salad, and Citrus Beurre Blanc
Entree: Pan-Seared Duck Breast with Parsnip Purée, Sautéed Mushrooms, Green Beans, and Cherry Reduction

Team Blue isn’t off the hook either. Gordon blasts a raw scallop that’s ice cold in the middle, and Peter doesn’t hold back, pointing the finger at Maria. Gordon suggests the team pull Maria off scallop duty entirely. The duck fares better — Tiffany says it just needs crispier skin, but otherwise calls it a strong dish.

Dinner Service

With the guests seated and the courses going out, it’s clear where the bride and groom’s own taste buds land on the appetizer: Jessica and Jesse prefer Team Blue’s scallops, calling Team Red’s “pale” and “incomplete” by comparison.

And just when Team Red thought it couldn’t get worse, it does — Julia’s pan of scallops catches fire mid-service. A furious Gordon doesn’t even bother trying to salvage it, tossing the entire pan into a snowbank outside. It’s enough to earn Team Red a scathing verdict from Gordon: “I’m embarrassed!” he declares, putting the team on notice that the duck course needs to be “way better.”

The pressure doesn’t let up as the entree course begins. Tasked with scoring the duck, Aghata slashes it to shreds — literally. Gordon is gobsmacked, demanding to know what she’s doing, and Aghata admits she’s never scored a duck before and didn’t really understand the technique. After a flurry of expletives, a rattled Gordon steps outside to collect himself before returning with a simple directive: get the ducks cooking and hope for the best.

Things aren’t much calmer elsewhere in the kitchen — Jaime has a full meltdown over the orange sauce, admitting she has no idea how to make it, and Aishu makes the call to pull her off cooking duty entirely and send her to plating instead.

When the duck finally reaches Jessica and Jesse, the verdict is mixed. On Team Blue’s plate, the green beans are the standout, but the duck itself is overcooked and lacking crisp. Team Red’s duck, on the other hand, is better cooked with a stronger sauce this time around. Out in the dining room, opinions split even further among the other guests — some love Team Blue’s duck, others prefer Team Red’s — making clear both teams struggled with consistency across the board.

Results

Once every guest has been served, the judges huddle to make the call. Gordon says it was clear across the board: Team Blue takes the win. The entire team is safe from elimination, and as the winning captain, Peter earns an advantage heading into the next challenge.

Elimination

Gordon tells captain Aishu that two cooks stood out as the weak links tonight: Jaime and Aghata. Both plead that they simply didn’t know how to execute what was asked of them, but Tiffany isn’t having it: “We didn’t tell you to make polenta! We didn’t tell you to make l’orange! That feels real suspect to me.”

After deliberating, the judges send Aghata home.

“It doesn’t feel great to be walking away tonight,” Aghata says, “but I’m very proud of myself. I came to MasterChef to pursue my food passion. I know that I have so much to learn. It has been an amazing experience.”
