Universal’s blockbuster event release “The Odyssey” maintained its grip on the U.K. and Ireland box office, securing a second consecutive weekend at No. 1.

Christopher Nolan’s epic spectacle added £11.8 million ($15.7 million) in its sophomore frame, representing a remarkably light holdover drop and elevating its local gross to £35.3 million ($46.9 million) after 10 days of wide theatrical release.

Disney held onto the second-place position as Pixar’s animated hit “Toy Story 5” collected $2.5 million in its sixth weekend for a total of $65.2 million. Disney also captured third place with its live-action “Moana,” which added $1.8 million in its third frame, bringing its haul to $11.1 million.

Universal took fourth spot with its animated holdover “Minions & Monsters,” drawing $1.7 million in its fourth frame to lift its cume to $16.1 million. TGS Cinemas Limited captured fifth place with the high-profile launch of H. Vinoth’s Indian political action drama “Jana Nayagan,” the swansong of star C. Joseph Vijay. The wide specialized entry banked an opening frame of $596,324. The film, which was due to release in January, was held up at the Indian censors. In a dramatic turn of events in May, Vijay’s political party won the Tamil Nadu elections and he assumed office as the state’s Chief Minister. An uncut version of the film released in the U.K.

Black Bear’s ensemble comedy-drama “The Invite” moved to sixth place in its fourth frame, adding £$403,689 for a running total of $4 million. Universal’s horror-romance entry “Obsession” continued its remarkably resilient run in seventh place, taking $336,507 in its 11th week of release to drive its total to $25.3 million.

Studiocanal’s horror feature “Evil Dead Burn” was in eighth place in its third weekend, drawing $309,193 for a total of $2.8 million. Universal’s sci-fi thriller “Disclosure Day” captured ninth spot in its seventh week, taking $103,957 to bring its running total to $17 million. Warner Bros.’ superhero entry “Supergirl” completed the top 10 in its fifth frame, adding $83,229 for a cume of $7.6 million.

Looking ahead to the upcoming theatrical frame, Trafalgar Releasing kicks off mid-week arrivals on July 28 with the music event presentation “Wham! 10 Days In China,” followed on July 30 by Dreamz Entertainment launching the Indian drama “Srinivasa Mangapuram.” On July 31, Sony Pictures dominates the wide-circuit frame with the tentpole launch of Destin Daniel Cretton’s superhero spectacle “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” into more than 300 locations.

The specialized, independent, and repertory slate for July 31 provides a diverse array of counter-programming. BFI Distribution introduces Imran Perretta’s drama “Ish,” while Other Parties Film Company debuts Bill Gunn’s classic drama “Personal Problems” across more than 25 screens. Independent and international rollouts also include Ricardo Silva’s drama “Mistura,” Exposure’s “Exposure,” and Zee Studios International’s “Kankaan De Ohle.”

Archival and repertory programming is highlighted by Curzon reissuing Andrei Tarkovsky’s masterpiece “The Sacrifice” in a 4K restoration, alongside Park Circus re-releasing Aardman’s classic animated comedy “Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit.”
