Rosie O’Donnell is getting candid about her weight loss journey with Mounjaro.

The former talk show host, 64, who has lost around 60 pounds in three years after being prescribed the weight-loss drug, revealed her dosage on the Monday, July 27, episode of the “Bleep! With Ana Navarro” podcast.

“So, I [did] the lowest dose for a year … 2.5 [milligrams],” O’Donnell explained to podcast host Ana Navarro. “Then I did a year at 5, and now I’m just finishing a year at 7.5.”

O’Donnell said she plans to increase her dosage “one more time” and then doesn’t plan to increase it again.

Rosie O’Donnell surprised fans in May 2025 by revealing a positive update on her weight loss journey — which she credited to using the medication Mounjaro. The injectable drug (also known as tirzepatide) is similar to Ozempic and Wegovy in that it is used primarily to treat diabetes, but can also be effective in weight […]

According to the comedian, she was very conscious about increasing her Mounjaro dosage in small increments to feel her best.

“I wanted to go slow because I know that it overwhelms me when I have lost [weight] quick before and everyone’s reaction,” she said. “I like doing it at a slow pace. I like how it feels that I’m not sick, that I’ve never had any kind of side effects.”

O’Donnell’s revelation that she’s never experienced side effects was a surprise to Navarro, 54, who questioned, “You’ve never had to run to the bathroom?”

“Never,” the actress responded. “But again, I did a year on 2.5. The doctor kept saying, ‘I want you to go up,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m fine as it is.’”

Rosie O’Donnell went under the knife earlier this year for a procedure that she swore she would never get. “I used to feel very strongly about facelifts,” O’Donnell, 64, wrote in a lengthy poem titled “Decisions” and shared via her Substack on Monday, May 25. “Not casually — morally. I had assigned myself as head […]

Earlier this month, O’Donnell revealed how Mounjaro, which is prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes and/or weight loss, has been beneficial for her after struggling with her weight following her mom’s death in 1973.

“When my mom died, all of us children gained weight,” she told People. “My father would give us a one hundred dollar bill and we would go to Foodtown to do the food shopping. Now if you’re 11 years old and you’re shopping for a family of five, there’s nothing nutritious about it. It was Entenmann’s and Cap’n Crunch and we would always say, ‘Subtotal please,’ and when it got near one hundred, we’d put back the chicken and the hamburger meat. Everyone got heavy. Everyone was in such grief and trauma.”

“And so Mounjaro saved my life,” O’Donnell continued. “I’ve lost a pound or two a month for three years. I really wish I could do commercials for Mounjaro and they would drop the price instead of paying me. Because when I see people struggling with obesity, I want to say I know the shame that we carry and the humiliation that is dealt to people who are overweight.”

“It’s a miracle drug,” she said. “I was stunned how it quieted the food noise. I’ve had trouble with my weight my whole life. I know some people are ashamed to talk about it but I wanted to share how it helped me and I don’t like secrets as a whole.”
