Netflix‘s hit Western drama Ransom Canyon delivered another season of drama, romance, love triangles, ranching, and small-town charm. And when the end credits roll on Season 2’s finale, fans will feel satisfied, scared, and eager to see what Season 3 has in store.
After Staten (Josh Duhamel) helped Quinn (Minka Kelly) pull off her No Place Like Home music festival, he told her he was no good for her and had to let her go. Then, Ransom Canyon Season 2’s penultimate episode ended on several jaw-dropping cliffhangers. Lucas (Garrett Wareing) was about to be busted for drinking and driving. Sheriff Dan (Philip Winchester) saw his daughter Lauren (Lizzy Greene) dancing with Kit (Casey W. Johnson). And after realizing that Yancy (Jack Schumacher), Ellie (Marianly Tejada), and the guys conned her into signing divorce papers and leaving town, Sidney (Heidi Grace Engerman) returned to Yancy’s house and scared Ellie so hard she fell off the porch.
So are Ellie and the baby OK? Does Lucas get arrested? Do Lauren and Kit end up together? What happens to Sidney? And are Quinn and Staten really over for good? Ransom Canyon Season 2, Episode 8, “Love Is A Canyon,” has answers.

Ransom Canyon Season 2 Ending Explained: Ransom Canyon Season 2, Episode 8 Recap
Thankfully, Ransom Canyon wastes very little time revealing the fate of Ellie and her baby. After a placental abruption and premature labor, both Ellie and her daughter Isabella are safe and healthy! Yancy is relieved, smitten, and ready to live up to the responsibilities of fatherhood. Unfortunately, the police haven’t found Sidney, so danger still looms in Ransom Canyon.
Speaking of danger, the cops cuffed Lucas before he was able to drive drunk, and when Dan sees Kit headed into the station to bail his little brother out the next morning, he lays into him for moving in on Lauren. He also hands him the contact info for a friend of his who has a ranch in Wyoming and heavily encourages him to skip town, start over, and do right by Lucas and Lauren. The brother love triangle plot thickens when Lucas regretfully reveals he slept with Ashley after he saw Lauren and Kit kiss. When he comes clean to Lauren, she simply gets in her car and drives away.
Despite Staten stepping back from a future with Quinn in Episode 7, she tries to get through to him again in Episode 8. When she tells him she pushed him away because she was scared, he stands his ground and says he’s listening for the first time. So Quinn turns her focus to Ellie and Gracie’s. She starts planning the next music festival and finds the perfect location: the Lone Star theater. To turn it into Ransom Canyon’s Ryman, she knows she’ll need a strong financial partner, so she teams up with Mary Lou Daniels (Bridget Regan) on a more permanent basis.
To fully move forward, Staten and Quinn know they need to mend rocky relationships with their parents. And Season 2’s finale gives them both touching, long-awaited opportunities to have honest conversations. Sam has a vulnerable heart-to-heart with Staten and vows to tell the board that he’s best suited to run the Double K. And Quinn and her mom get deep, as well. Quinn encourages her mom to pursue her own dreams and agrees to sell the ranch. And when Claire learns that Quinn and Staten’s ship may have finally sailed, she takes matters into her own hands and tries to right the wrong she made when he came to her with the letter all those years ago. She visits Staten, tells him that love is a canyon and encourages him to get to the other side with her girl, and delivers a box with a handwritten note from him to Quinn before she leaves town.
So what does the note say? Staten was wrong. Of course he still wants to be with her. And he asks her to meet him at the cabin if she felt the same, just like he did back in the day. Quinn keeps Staten waiting so long he’s about to blow out the romantic candles he lit, but eventually she makes it. “It only took you 30 years,” Staten jokes, before diving into a serious, A+ love confession.
“I think you were right about fate. It kept us apart for a reason. You needed to go to New York, we needed other loves, other lives. Amalah and Randall…I don’t regret a single moment of my life with them, not even the pain of losing them. I think that everything that happened, I believe, is fate. Fate was making us ready for each other,” he said. “That’s really beautiful,” Quinn replies. “Now shut up and kiss me.” AHHHH!!!! After spending the night together, the two wake up at the cabin and admit they make each other feel like home.
Unfortunately, not every relationship resolution is that smooth. After considering Dan’s offer, Kit tells Lauren that he doesn’t think he can be with her, and Lauren is crushed. She races to catch him before he skips town, but instead she finds Lucas sulking at home alone. The two still have love for each other, but Lauren’s heart is with Kit at the moment. So Lucas takes Staten’s advice and lets her run. He tells her Kit is catching a bus, and with seconds to spare, Lauren catches him, kisses him, and says, “I’m not letting you go.”
While Ellie is in the hospital recovering, Yancy meets Freddie — the man who helped them with their oil con — to ask for more time in getting him his $80,000 payout. In a twist, Freddie said he didn’t need the debt paid, because Yancy actually was sitting on a plot of oil and together, they could be “stupid rich.” With Sidney still on the loose and cops unable to charge her for assault since Ellie fell off the porch, Ellie grows more paranoid by the minute and self-discharges to head home.
Yancy arrives at her house to find Kai, who’s keeping watch because she doesn’t feel safe with Sid still around. Yancy is eager to spend time with his daughter and share the good news about the oil, but Ellie asks him to leave and vows to protect Isabella from the darkness that follows him. A devastated Yancy obeys her wishes and drives away from his family, but it’s clear his main goal will be to get them back next season.
Thankfully, after the emotional roller coaster, Ransom Canyon leaves us on a happy note. To celebrate the board voting in his favor, Staten gives Quinn a key to the Double K and the two embark on their next chapter. Tired: Love triangles. Wired: Living together. This is a Netflix drama, after all, so the couple is sure to find a slew of new challenges next season. But for now, they’re in bliss. Before the end credits roll, Staten says, “What do you say we start forever right now?” And they seal it with a kiss.
