It’s been a dramatic second week in the Big Brother 28 house (thanks Angela!) after the major alliances were blown up at the nomination ceremony (thanks Devens!).
Now, Jason De Puy, Melody Morris, and Rome Seymour must bust the block in order to save themselves from the second eviction vote of the summer. After the BB Block Buster plays out live with host Julie Chen Moonves, the rest of the house votes to sack one of the house targets that Head of Household Rick Devens put in harm’s way.

The players in the running to win the $750,000 grand prize are: Angela Murray, Barrett Pfeiffer, Chuk Anyanwu, Dee Valladares, Drew Campbell, Haley Thogmartin, Jason De Puy, Kamu Kirk, La Trice Verrett, Lyric Medeiros, Mallory Aurichio, Melody Morris, Rick Devens, Rome Seymour, Taylor Brown, and Yash Patel.
Rome-o & Juliet
With Lyric taken off the block by Devens and his Veto, the stage was set for Rome and Lyric to complete their plan to keep them both in the game. Part of their plan was to fake a breakup and then individually pitch that Lyric be replaced by Rome, but hinged on a future BB Block Buster win by Rome or enough votes to keep him from being evicted. Faced with the threat of separation, Lyric committed to Rome that she wants to be with him on the outside and asked that if he’s evicted that he waits for her. Despite Devens and most of The Toolshed alliance wanting Rome to leave, there were members on the other side of the house who had a vested interest in keeping him. Lyric thought that she had six solid votes in Taylor, Lala, herself, Yash, Mallory and Melody or Jason once they come off the block. Drew was not a number she thought of, but he was privately interested in keeping him as well.
Though it’s is plan to play in the middle of the house, Drew began to come under fire from Angela and Dee when they realized how close he was staying to Rome’s alliance. It was at this point that Dee pitched the idea of getting rid of Melody in order to curtail the budding romance between her and Drew, bringing him back closer to The Toolshed.
Cracks in The Toolshed
Drew wasn’t The Toolshed’s only problem though because as the 8th person dragged from his bed into the start of that alliance, Barrett was not particularly connected to them in a way that convinced him to remain loyal. In a conversation with Mallory, he got a glimpse of what it might be like to jump ship and vote to keep Rome. Drew also knew that together him and Barrett were at the bottom and so he offered a final two with him with an idea that they throw out rogue votes and then move to target Kamu, Chuk and Haley in the coming weeks.
BB Block Buster
To earn safety from the vote, Jason, Melody and Rome competed in the “Pirate’s Booty” BB Block Buster, a race to rearrange oversized gems one at a time so that they were stacked in their own columns. Very quickly, Jason figured out the quickest way to move the pieces around and clocked in to claim the win and remove himself from the block.
The houseguests were happy to hear that Jason was the champ in the comp, but the mood quickly took a downturn with what seemed like goodbye hugs all around for Rome. Given the opportunity to make one last plea to the voters, Rome offered himself up as “a shield, an ally, a friend, the garbage man” to prove that he has a value in staying; Melody referenced her dream of being in the house and referred to herself as a potential asset to their games.
Live Eviction
One at a time, the 13 eligible houseguests entered the diary room to cast their vote with all moving to evict Rome except for one rogue vote to evict Melody from Taylor. Instead of hugging everyone (again) on his way out, Rome used his few moments to make a declaration of love to Lyric. Minutes after Rome left, Lyric was shown pleading to both Angela and Devens to believe that she was not the vote to keep Rome.
In front of Julie for his exit interview, Rome said he’s honored that Devens saw him as a big enough threat to be targeted and also hurt that Devens went back on his word to keep him off the block. He was shocked to learn that Lyric was not the vote to keep him and instead that it was Taylor, but chalked it up to her sense of loyalty. On the subject of the showmance, he said that she “batted her eyes twice and [he] was a puddle” so every strategy he had went right out the window.
