The fifth installment of Disney‘s Descendants franchise has arrived.
Descendants: Wicked Wonderland—the fifth movie in the Descendants series, which is now streaming on Disney+—brings the return of the new generation kids with hero and villain parents. Following the events of Descendants: The Rise of Red, Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe Charming (Malia Baker), have returned from the past to learn just how their efforts have changed the future. However, in making sure Red’s mother, The Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora), does not turn out evil, they accidentally created a new villain, Maddox Hatter (Leonardo Nam). Maddox Hatter takes the Queen of Hearts hostage, and forces Red, Chloe, and their new allies to go to Wonderland and save the kingdom.
The new movie introduces new characters to the franchise, including Pink (Liamani Segura), Red’s new little sister. The Descendants franchise has always had iconic actors from other Disney shows and beyond, but fans have recognized another well-known actor’s voice in the new movie. Actor and comedian Awkwafina‘s voice is highly identifiable, but did you recognize her in the new Descendants movie?
Is Awkwafina In Descendants: Wicked Wonderland?
Yes! Awkwafina plays Chessy Cheshire, the daughter of the Cheshire Cat from the beloved fairy tale written by Lewis Caroll, Alice in a Wonderland. Chessy is Maddox Hatter’s henchwoman (or hench-cat?), and a major source of chaos in the film. Like her Chessire Cat parent, Chessy always pairs her mischief with an evil grin.

Yes! Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, premiered on Disney Channel July 16, and is now available for streaming on Disney+.
Will There Be A Sixth Descendants Movie?
Although there hasn’t been any official confirmation, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland did end with a cliffhanger. When asked about a potential return in an interview with Decider, Kylie Cantrall answered with a coy, “I don’t know if we can reveal all our secrets.”
She went on to say, “Some things have to remain in Pink’s and Red’s treasure box. I could say it’s a bunch of cool things that our props department put together, but no! There’s something more mysterious and magical inside. We’re just going to have to wait and find out.”
