Gold Derby is serving up Big Brother 28 spoilers all summer long. Read at your own risk!
The house turned upside-down last night after Rick Devens won the Week 2 Head of Household competition. The Survivor legend claimed he was tired and just wanted to sleep — but that didn’t end up happening. Instead, Rick stayed up into the wee hours of the night, strategizing with his allies and figuring out which people he wanted to nominate for eviction.
At Friday’s nominations ceremony, he officially put Jason De Puy, Lyric Medeiros, and Melody Morris on the chopping block. Jason immediately came unglued and had an argument with Angela Murray in front of everyone in which he repeatedly referred to himself as a “messy bitch.”
However, as it turns out, none of these three nominees are Rick’s true target.
Instead, Rick is hoping the Power of Veto will be used so he can backdoor Rome Seymour, the leader of the other side of the house. Rome has been a target of Rick’s group since a newly paranoid Angela Murray noticed he was having private one-on-ones in the gym, and she was never invited. If the Veto isn’t used, Melody will be Rick’s default target.
Rick’s nominees and backdoor plot are all aimed at ensuring Rome’s empire falls. And he didn’t even need a time machine to make it happen!
THE TOOLSHED
Also overnight, Rick’s two alliances — the Red Corner and the Crossovers — joined together to create a massive eight-person group, dubbed the Toolshed. That means Rick, Dee Valladares, Chuk Anyanwu, Haley Thogmartin, Kamu Kirk, Angela, Barrett Pfeiffer, and Drew Campbell are now working as one cohesive unit. As Drew explained, the name of the alliance comes from their need to “get these tools out of here.” OK, cool.
On paper, a large alliance like this should be able to control every vote for the rest of the game. But nothing is ever as it seems in the Big Brother house, and the upcoming Time Capsule powers and punishments could throw a wrench in everyone’s plans.
SAFETY PROMISES

Also as HOH, Rick kindly promised safety to last week’s three surviving nominees: Mallory Aurichio, Yash Patel, and Taylor Brown. He told them he didn’t want anyone to go up on the block two weeks in a row. If the Survivor legend is to be trusted, that means this trio will enjoy a carefree week in the house, without the fear of being backdoored should the Veto be used.
EGG-CELLENT PUNISHMENT

The first punishment of the season was unleashed on Friday, when Angela was forced to wear Vince Panaro’s hard-boiled egg detective costume for an entire week. America chose Angela as the first houseguest to enter the Time Capsule. The BB fan-fave was whisked away to a secret location where she lost the challenge and was given a punishment from a past season. Had she won, she would have received a power from a past season.
