The U.K. and Ireland box office saw a transition at the summit as Disney’s live-action adaptation “Moana” debuted in the top spot, banking an opening weekend of £2.8 million ($3.8 million).

The launch was enough to narrowly edge out Disney stablemate “Toy Story 5,” which moved to second place in its fourth frame. The film added $3.3 million over the weekend and now has a cumulative total of $56.7 million.

Universal’s “Minions & Monsters” claimed third place in its sophomore session, taking $2.3 million to lift its 10-day running total to $9.8 million. Studiocanal’s “Evil Dead Burn” secured fourth place, drawing horror audiences across its opening frame to pocket $1.2 million.

Black Bear’s ensemble comedy-drama “The Invite” placed fifth during its second weekend, adding $575,431 for a cumulative total of $2.4 million. Universal’s “Obsession” followed in sixth place in its ninth week of release, banking $358,918 for a running total of $24.3 million.

Warner Bros.’ superhero holdover “Supergirl” landed in seventh place during its third weekend, adding £$355,863 to its running total, which now stands at $7 million. Universal’s Steven Spielberg sci-fi thriller “Disclosure Day” took eighth place in its fifth weekend, taking $276,660 to drive its cume to $16.5 million.

Paramount’s comedy “Jackass: Best and Last” finished in ninth place in its third weekend with $165,514 for a total of $2.7 million, while Bakrania Media’s comedy sequel “Dhamaal 4” debuted at No. 10, taking $155,882 in its opening frame.

Looking ahead to the upcoming theatrical frame, all eyes are on Christopher Nolan’s massive epic adventure “The Odyssey.” Universal is set to launch the highly anticipated blockbuster on July 17 in a saturation campaign across more than 300 locations, featuring premium formats and native Imax presentations. The high-profile film leads a busy frame that also sees Signature Entertainment debut Oscar Boyson’s comedy “Our Hero, Balthazar,” starring Jaeden Martell and Asa Butterfield, that releases for one day only on July 16.

The specialized and independent slate for July 17 includes LonRom Film Production’s romantic LGBTQ+ drama “A Year In London,” starring Melanie Liburd and Nina Pons, while Verve Pictures releases Marc Isaacs’ AI-focused documentary “Synthetic Sincerity.” Park Circus will handle classic repertory slots with specialized screen reissues of the beloved Aardman animations “A Close Shave” and “A Matter Of Loaf And Death.”
