Little House on the Prairie is the show that keeps on giving.

Netflix just released the first season, and fans are raving about the new interpretation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic book series. The debut offering is faithful to the novel, following Laura Ingalls (Alice Halsey) and her family as they travel from Wisconsin to their fresh start in the prairie out West. Throughout their journey, the family faces the many ups and downs that come with establishing a new home in Kansas.

Fans have praised the show’s authenticity, with series star Crosby Fitzgerald sharing a fun behind-the-scenes story about the cast’s dedication to realism.

“I mean, we’re really riding a wagon into the sunset,” Fitzgerald told DECIDER, and that’s us on the wagon doing that, and each day that we got to kind of be within the prairie.”

The entire show was filmed on location in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, with the beautiful locations transporting audiences to the 1800s. Naturally, everyone is already wondering if a second season is on the way. Here’s everything we know about the future of Little House on the Prairie.

Will there be a season 2 of Little House on the Prairie?

Yes! Little House on the Prairie is returning for a second season.

Series star Crosby Fitzgerald exclusively teased to DECIDER that the upcoming season might feature the famous underground dugout house. “Listen, maybe there’s a cow and a hoof in the roof,” Fitzgerald said. “You know what I mean? That’s what I can say.”

I think it’s safe to say fans won’t have to worry about the story straying too far from the books.

When will Little House on the Prairie season 2 come out on Netflix?

The official release date for the second season has yet to be announced. Netflix officially renewed the series in March, and production is already underway. Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine teased to People what fans can expect when the show returns with new episodes.

“We are so excited to show people our Walnut Grove, which is inspired by the real place and inspired by books. And yeah, I think it’s going to be so fun and different, ” Sonnenshine revealed.

Again, there’s no official release date, but we expect Little House on the Prairie to return with new episodes in 2027.

Where is Walnut Grove from Little House on the Prairie?

Good question.

**Spoilers for Little House on the Prairie Season 1, now streaming on Netflix**

Yes, the end of the first season sets up the Ingalls family leaving the prairie for a new life in Walnut Grove, Minnesota.

Walnut Grove is an actual town, a well-known tourist destination that was home to Laura Ingalls Wilder. The town even has the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum and a pageant in the author’s honor.

The first season of Little House on the Prairie is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
