Pluto TV today introduced two new dedicated channels focused on the supernatural television classics Charmed and Ghost Whisperer. This comes as the free ad-supported streaming service continues to grow its offerings of popular series from past decades, providing viewers with uninterrupted access to full seasons of these beloved shows.

The new Charmed channel brings back the original series that debuted on The WB network in October 1998 and concluded in May 2006 after eight successful seasons. Created by Constance M. Burge, the show follows the lives of three sisters who discover they are powerful witches known as the Charmed Ones. Tasked with protecting the innocent from evil forces using their unique abilities, the series blended elements of drama, fantasy, action, and family dynamics. It featured a rotating cast of lead actresses portraying the Halliwell sisters and became a cultural phenomenon, influencing subsequent supernatural programming and maintaining a dedicated fan base through reruns and streaming availability. A reboot version aired on The CW from 2018 to 2022 with a new cast and updated storyline but the original remains the most iconic iteration.

Similarly, the Ghost Whisperer channel features the CBS series that premiered in September 2005 and ran for five seasons until May 2010. Created by John Gray, it stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon, an antique shop owner in a small town who possesses the ability to see and communicate with earthbound spirits. The narrative revolves around her efforts to help these ghosts resolve their unfinished business so they can cross over to the afterlife, often involving emotional stories intertwined with her personal life including her marriage and family. The show combined supernatural elements with heartfelt drama and mystery, attracting a large audience during its original run and continuing to resonate with viewers interested in themes of loss, redemption, and the afterlife.

These additions to Pluto TV underscore the platform’s commitment to curating high-quality classic content that appeals to nostalgia-driven audiences as well as new generations discovering these series. By dedicating entire channels to Charmed and Ghost Whisperer, Pluto TV allows fans to enjoy marathon viewings or catch specific episodes at any time, all for free with ad support. This move aligns with the broader trend in the streaming industry where free ad-supported services are gaining traction by offering accessible alternatives to subscription-based platforms. Viewers can tune into these new channels via the Pluto TV app or website, experiencing the linear format that mimics traditional television scheduling while benefiting from on-demand flexibility in some aspects.

Pluto TV first launched in 2014 after being founded in 2013 by entrepreneurs Tom Ryan, Ilya Pozin, and Nick Grouf. It quickly established itself as a leader in the free ad-supported streaming television space by delivering a cable-like experience through numerous linear channels filled with movies, television series, news, sports, and more, all without requiring a subscription fee. The platform generates revenue through advertisements inserted during programming breaks, similar to traditional broadcast television. In 2019, Viacom acquired Pluto TV for approximately 340 million dollars, integrating it into its portfolio and later under Paramount Global, now known as Paramount Skydance. This acquisition helped accelerate its global expansion and content diversification. Today, Pluto TV offers more than 250 channels across various genres and is available on a wide range of devices including smart TVs, streaming sticks, and mobile apps in multiple countries.

Furthermore, the inclusion of these supernatural hits enhances Pluto TV’s already diverse portfolio which includes channels dedicated to various genres such as sci-fi, drama, comedy, and reality programming. As the service expands, it continues to partner with content owners to bring more titles to its users worldwide. Fans of paranormal television will particularly appreciate having dedicated spaces for these two series, which have left lasting impressions through their engaging storylines and memorable characters. The timing of this launch coincides with renewed interest in fantasy and supernatural genres across media, making it an opportune moment for Pluto TV to capitalize on that enthusiasm.
