Vin Diesel is back in the driver’s seat as the Fast & Furious franchise makes one last lap after 25 years.
On Thursday, the star and producer revealed that production has commenced on Fast Forever, which is set for a March 17, 2028 premiere, the 11th and final chapter in the $7 billion action franchise that launched with 2001’s The Fast and the Furious.
“I’m on set. People are grinding. Incredible crews are working,” said Diesel in a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram. “I just wanted to take a second to … say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world, best fans in the world. You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale.”
Noting that he’s “been lucky to embark on other characters” like in the upcoming Pitch Black installment Riddick: Furya, in addition to his work developing Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em for Mattel, Diesel is currently committed to providing Fast & Furious fans with a satisfying conclusion.
“But through it all, one thing I know is, I can feel your support, and that means the world to me,” added the actor known for playing Dominic Toretto. “So, let me get back to this filming, and just know that I hope to make you all proud.”
While the flagship movie franchise is coming to an end, Diesel previously teased that NBCUniversal has four TV shows in development from the Fast & Furious world.
