After many years of dating, Ariana Biermann and Hudson McLeroy entered their sophomore seasons of Next Gen NYC single and (somewhat) ready to mingle.
Biermann, daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta icon Kim Zolciak, began dating McLeroy, heir to the Zaxby’s fast-food chain, when they were both in high school. The Georgia-born couple made their big move to New York City in July 2024, which was when they filmed the first season of Next Gen NYC.
However, Biermann revealed at the start of Season 2 that she had decided to break up with McLeroy and move into her own apartment in Brooklyn. While some of her castmates—namely, Georgia McCann and Ava Dash—questioned whether their split was merely for a storyline on the show, it quickly became clear that their breakup was the real deal.
So, why did they break up? And are they back together? Keep reading for everything we know!
Why did Ariana Biermann and Hudson McLeroy break up?
Ariana Biermann announced her breakup with Hudson McLeroy in October 2025, writing, “Hudson and I have decided to go our separate ways. While these things are never easy, we both know it’s what’s best for us right now. We are so grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown us over the years. Sometimes life takes you in different directions and that’s OK. Love you all,” per BravoTV.
McLeroy later posted his own statement, which read, “I still and always will love Ariana. She’s been there for me at times when I couldn’t be there for myself. I still have a lot of things I need to heal from and deal with on my own to become the person I truly want to be. I appreciate all of the love and support everyone is showing us through this difficult time.”
In the Next Gen NYC Season 2 premiere, we learn the real reason why Biermann ended her relationship with McLeroy. The former couple, who dated on and off for nearly a decade, hit some bumps in the road after they moved to New York City in the summer of 2024. Biermann felt that McLeroy wasn’t trying in their relationship, explaining that she asked him to talk her on more dates to no avail. Hudson, for his part, admitted he wasn’t “emotionally growing” and that his lack of “drive” became “unattractive” to Biermann.

Are Ariana Biermann and Hudson McLeroy back together?
Yes! Ariana Biermann and Hudson McLeroy are back together. After bread-crumbing fans on social media, McLeroy appeared to confirm their reconciliation in an April 20 Instagram post, which included a photo of Biermann along with the caption, “Back and better than ever…” The two were also spotted kissing at the Next Gen NYC Season 2 premiere party earlier this month. Sometimes, it’s true that a little distance makes the heart grow fonder.
