EXCLUSIVE: Following their big sale of the rom com One Month Mark to Apple, Chernin Entertainment has another sexy package hitting the market this weekend as sources tell Deadline Chernin has boarded Palm Grove, an original, big-screen erotic thriller by James Morosini starring Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas with directed by Kornél Mundruczó. Insiders say the package will hit the streets tomorrow and is sure to attract a number of buyers given the star power.
The story is set in Miami’s most exclusive neighborhood, where a picture-perfect wife uncovers her husband’s double life – igniting a seductive power game that turns betrayal into the most intoxicating game of her life.
The film is an original screenplay by Morosini who will also executive produce. Mundruczo is attached to direct. Peter Chernin, David Ready, and Brady Fujikawa will produce on behalf of Chernin Entertainment.
This comes shortly after Chernin Entertainment landed Sophie Fleur de Bruijn’s highly sought-after, buzzy new rom-com One Month Mark, starring Jennifer Lawrence, with Apple Original Films in a highly competitive situation. Chernin Entertainment’s recent hit projects include Backrooms, which has already grossed more than $260 million worldwide; Apex, which premiered in April and climbed to No. 1 on the Netflix global English film list; and Man on Fire, which debuted in April as the No. 1 TV show in the world on Netflix.
Hudson is having herself quite a run over the last 12 months starting with her Oscar-nominated performance in Song Sung Blue. The film also earned her a SAG, BAFTA and Golden Globe nom as well as some of the best reviews of her career. She is an executive producer and stars in the hit Netflix series, Running Point, which has been picked up for a third season.
She is currently filming Hello & Paris, opposite Javier Bardem.
Best known for her roles in Blonde, which earned her Academy Award nomination and Knives Out, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination; de Armas was most recently seen starring in the Lionsgate action pic Ballerina and No Time to Die.
She is currently in production on the Apple TV+ limited series Safe Houses.
Mundruczó is an award-winning Hungarian filmmaker whose acclaimed works include Cannes prize winner White God and Pieces of a Woman, executive produced by Martin Scorsese. Most recently, At the Sea premiered in Competition at the 2026 Berlinale, and he has wrapped production on The Place to Be.
Morosini wrote, directed and starred in I Love My Dad which won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at SXSW before its distribution via Magnolia. He sold his original screenplay Mommy’s Home to Lionsgate and elevated comedy spec Inner Child to Universal which is being adapted for the Lego Universe. Next up he’ll direct his original screenplay Bulls with Dylan O’Brien, Lewis Pullman & Kaia Gerber attached to star. He most recently starred in the Sundance and Netflix hit It’s What’s Inside.
