It’s been two years since we last visited the House of the Dragon on HBO. House of the Dragon Season 2 ended the eve of a massive showdown between Rhaenyra Targaryen’s (Emma D’Arcy) Blacks and the Hightower family’s Greens at sea. Meanwhile, Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) had made a desperate plan to surrender King’s Landing — and her son Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) — to Rhaenyra in exchange for her and Helaena’s (Phia Saban) safety and an end to all the bloodshed. The only problem? Alicent made this agreement without knowing that the sneaky Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) had spirited Aegon out of the city. Oh, and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) had a mystical vision of the events of Game of Thrones and now is a true believe in the Song of Ice and Fire.

So what happens next? Well, close readers of George R.R. Martin‘s books know that the bloody Battle of the Gullet is about to go down. The Triarchy, led by Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorn), have agreed to support Team Green for the chance to stick it to their nemesis, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint). When their fleet collides with the Sea Snake’s navy, all hell will break loose.

Teases for House of the Dragon Season 3 promise that HBO has spared no expense in trying to nail the awesome scope of this major battle. So can you watch “Hot D” tonight?

Here’s everything you need to know about when House of the Dragon returns to HBO and HBO Max…

Will There Be House of the Dragon Season 4?

HBO has already renewed House of the Dragon for its fourth and final season.

House of the Dragon is inspired by the parts of George R.R. Martin’s in-universe history book Fire & Blood that deal with an intense Targaryen civil war known as the “Dance of the Dragons.” By the end of the war, almost all the power players — and their dragons — will be dead. So steel yourself for an unhappy ending for your favorite characters.
