Tom Cruise had an all-star Steven Spielberg reunion to support the director’s new alien thriller, “Disclosure Day.”
He was joined by his “Minority Report” co-star Colin Farrell and “War of the Worlds” daughter Dakota Fanning for a screening of “Disclosure Day,” which opens in theaters Friday.
“Nothing better than a summer Spielberg movie night in a packed theater with friends!” Cruise wrote on social media. “Steven thank you for all of the hours of joy that you have given us in the cinema!! It has been a great honor and pleasure to have worked with you and to call you my friend. Congratulations to my dear friend Emily and the entire group of artists that created this movie. You were superb. We all loved ‘Disclosure Day’!!”
Cruise also brought along a popcorn bucket in the shape of Spielberg’s head wearing with a plastic “Disclosure Day” cap. The movie’s official popcorn bucket is a 16-inch tall stag, with a cardinal sitting atop an antler, so it seems like Cruise’s Spielberg head may be a custom popcorn receptacle.
This fall, Cruise is starring in “Digger,” a satirical comedy directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. “Digger” will be Cruise’s first non-franchise movie since 2017’s “American Made” — since then, he made three “Mission: Impossible” adventures and “Top Gun: Maverick.” Cruise is known for making surprise appearances at his own movie premieres or to support his co-stars. Last year, he popped up at a “Running Man” screening in honor of of his fellow “Maverick” pilot Glen Powell’s lead role.
