With production starting on June 1, 2026, Netflix has announced five new cast members for The God of the Woods! The five confirmed cast members are Nell Fisher, Benjamin Walker, Damon Gupton, Susannah Perkins, and Autumn Molina, who join Maya Hawke and Kerry Condon in The God of the Woods.
The God of the Woods is an upcoming Netflix Original drama series adapted from Liz Moore’s 2024 novel of the same name. She will serve as the series co-showrunner, co-writer, and executive producer alongside Liz Hannah. Sony Pictures Television will produce the series, and Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty will serve as executive producers for Original Film.
The synopsis for the series is:
“Based on The New York Times bestselling novel, The God of the Woods is a multigenerational drama series set in the Adirondacks. It explores the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp — in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related. As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power.”

Nell Fisher will play Barbara Van Laar. Netflix subscribers will be most familiar with Fisher and her role as Holly Wheeler in the final season of Stranger Things. The actress previously starred in films such as Evil Dead Rise, Choose Love, and Bookworm.
The character has been described as:
“An artistic and headstrong teen with a punk sensibility, Barbara joins Camp Emerson seeking refuge from her fraught family unit and finds kinship with campers and counselors alike. While young, she has the maturity of someone forced to make serious decisions much too early on in life.”
Benjamin Walkers will play Peter Van Laar III. The actor is most well-known for his role as High King Gil-galad in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. He previously starred in Jessica Jones as Erik Gelden, The Underground Railroad, and films such as The King’s Daughter, September 5, and The Ice Road.
The character has been described as:
“Imposing, entitled and humorless, Peter Van Laar III is the wealthy heir to the Van Laar estate. His behavior is a struggle for both his wife, Alice, and his 13-year-old daughter.”
Damon Gupton will play Denny Hayes. The actor previously starred in television shows such as Black Lightning, Law & Order, Happy Face, Empire, Bates Motel, and The Big Door Prize.
The character has been described as:
“A captain in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Denny is a well-intentioned investigator who struggles with balancing his well protected peace and his new colleague, Judy Luptack.”
Susannah Perkins will play TJ Hewitt. They have starred in films such as Snakeeater, The Wolves, and Lapsis, and in Netflix’s comedy series The Politician and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The character has been described as:
“TJ is the quietly commanding director of Camp Emerson who quickly and confidently jumps into action when one of her campers goes missing.”
Autumn Moline will play Tracy Jewell. The actress has starred in films such as The Lost Bus, The Unexpecteds, and Little Brother. She has also starred in TV shows Behind the Yellow House and In Plain Sight.
The character has been described as:
“A determined young camper at Emerson, Tracy makes it her mission to help find her missing bunkmate, even if it means endangering her own life. “
