Disney+ to Livestream the ‘Toy Story 5’ Red Carpet Event This Week

As anticipation grows for one of the biggest films of the year, a live red carpet stream for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is coming to Disney+. The company has announced the event for UK customers on Thursday, May 28, live from Central London. The livestream begins at 6:30 p.m. BST (1:30 p.m. ET), and Disney says a full replay will be available afterward. It has yet to be announced if subscribers outside of the UK can stream the event.

The special is being billed as a front-row look at the Toy Story 5 red carpet, with celebrity arrivals, cast interviews, and surprises. The fifth main installment in the theatrical franchise, Toy Story 5, is set to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026, with exclusive previews beginning June 18. The new film continues the franchise’s “Toy meets Tech” theme, with Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the gang facing off against a new tablet called Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee.

For longtime fans, the red carpet event also lands at a perfect moment for some Toy Story nostalgia. The original Toy Story debuted on November 22, 1995, and became the first feature-length film made entirely with CGI. It opened to $39.1 million domestically over Thanksgiving weekend and eventually earned $373 million worldwide on a $30 million budget, helping launch Pixar into a new era of animation.

Fast forward three decades, and the new movie also leans into a very modern twist. Pixar’s trailer shows Bonnie now 8 years old, with toys once again worrying about what happens when screens start competing with playtime. The setup brings Buzz and Woody back together for another round of adventure, this time centered on the challenge of kids spending more time with electronics than imagination.

With the latest announcement, Disney+ is using live events to keep major releases in the spotlight. The red carpet stream gives fans an early look at the next chapter in one of Pixar’s biggest franchises. Fans in the UK can set a reminder for Thursday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m. BST (1:30 p.m. ET).
