Netflix is adding to its library of emotional dramas this June with After Everything (2018). It’s a romance film starring Jeremy Allen White and Maika Monroe. The movie didn’t make a big splash when it first came out, but over time, it’s become one of those indie love stories people tend to discover later and end up connecting with more than they expected.
For viewers who know White from his Emmy-winning role in The Bear, this is a very different side of him. It’s earlier in his career, but you can already see that same intensity he’s now known for. And with After Everything arriving on Netflix next month, it’s about to get a whole new wave of attention from audiences who may have missed it the first time around!
After Everything starring Jeremy Allen White is coming to Netflix in June 2026
Drum roll, please! Netflix has set the release date for After Everything on Thursday, June 11, 2026. While it’s unknown what time the movie will drop, there’s a good chance it’ll be added to Netflix at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on its release date. This is the time that the streaming giant typically drops new content on its platform.
That said, this isn’t officially confirmed, so it’s always possible the timing could vary slightly depending on how Netflix rolls it out. Either way, fans won’t have to wait long once June 11 arrives before they can finally stream it!
Unlike most romance movies nowadays, After Everything is not based on a book. There’s no source material guiding audience expectations. Instead, the film comes from an original screenplay by directors Hannah Marks and Joey Power. It’s just a simple, character-driven story about two young people trying to figure out love under extraordinary circumstances.
At the center of the film is Elliott (White), a 23-year-old in New York who’s basically just drifting through life. He works at a sandwich shop, hangs out with friends, and doesn’t really have much direction. Then he meets Mia (Monroe), and things shift fast. There’s an instant connection between them.
But that early romance gets turned upside down when Elliott is diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Suddenly, everything slows down and speeds up at the same time. Doctor visits replace casual dates, and both of them are forced into a situation neither of them is ready for.
But what’s surprising is that Mia doesn’t walk away. She stays. And not just in a distant, supportive way. She’s really there with him through treatments, appointments, and all the difficult moments in between. Their relationship becomes something intense and immediate, like life has fast-forwarded them into a level of commitment most people don’t reach for years.
As Elliott’s condition gets more serious, they start focusing less on the future and more on the present. Eventually, that leads them to a big decision. They get married before Elliott goes into a risky surgery, just in case things don’t go the way they hope. And for a while, it does go right. The surgery works, and Elliott goes into remission.
But that’s not really the end of the story. It’s where things start to change. Without going deep into spoiler territory, the film shifts gears and starts exploring what happens when life no longer feels like an emergency. Elliot and Mia begin to question what they actually mean to each other outside of everything they’ve been through, and they find their once-solid connection starting to feel a little less certain in the everyday rhythm of normal life.
Besides White and Monroe, the cast also includes DeRon Horton, Sasha Lane, Dean Winters, Joe Keery, Gina Gershon, Marisa Tomei, and others.
As After Everything arrives on Netflix this June, it’s likely to connect with a new audience discovering it for the first time or rediscovering it with a different perspective. Now that you know the official release date, all that is left to do is wait for it to drop on Netflix!
