Introduced in 1974, Hello Kitty is one of the most recognized and beloved characters in the world, appearing on approximately 50,000 types of merchandise sold annually in over 130 countries and regions.

The current script is being penned by Jeff Chan with previous drafts by Dana Fox, Katie Dippold, Adam Sztykiel, Jenny Jaffe, Lindsey Beer and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson (from a treatment by Robert Ben Garant & Thomas Lennon).

Both directors previously entered into overall deals with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation under Bill Damaschke.

Derrick Jr. previously worked on the smash hit Moana 2 for Disney while Aoshima is best known for his work on Ultraman: Rising.
