First Look Filming For Netflix The Big Fix Australia

Cameras are officially rolling on Netflix’s highly anticipated thriller The Big Fix, and What’s on Netflix has your exclusive first look at the stars on set!

Production for the high-stakes soccer match-fixing thriller kicked off in late April 2026. While the globe-trotting story spans multiple international locations, the cast and crew are currently set up down under in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. But thanks to some incredible production design, you’d never know it!

As you can see in our exclusive behind-the-scenes snaps below, the Australian city of Sydney’s inner-city suburbs have been meticulously transformed into the streets of London. A prop street sign clearly places the scene in the “London Borough of Islington” on the fictional “Crossgrove Place N1,” complete with classic brickwork and wrought-iron fencing.

Among the exciting reveals in these exclusive photos is our first look at Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games). Just yesterday, Deadline confirmed that Dormer had officially joined the cast, and she’s already hard at work. In the photos, Dormer can be seen stepping out of a quintessential London-style townhouse wearing a brown cardigan and jeans—and notably sporting a baby bump for the role. (Fans of Dormer will also be seeing her soon in Netflix’s upcoming Extraction spinoff series!)

We also have a sneak peek at leading man Mark Wahlberg, who was caught looking characteristically tense and brooding as he peers out through a multi-paned window.

Here are the exclusive set photos:

What is The Big Fix about?

In case you need a refresher on this upcoming Netflix Original, The Big Fix (formerly known as The Dark Game) is based on a true story, specifically an August 2012 ESPN Magazine article and a book by Brett Forrest.

Here is the official logline for the thriller:

“A former Interpol cop in a bureaucratic role at FIFA uncovers an international match-fixing scandal and launches a high-stakes mission to stop whoever is behind it. His target: a passionate hustler who joins forces with Chinese Triads to earn millions of dollars rigging football games across the world. As they start to circle one another, a high-octane, globetrotting cat-and-mouse thriller ensues – pitting two defiant, determined men against each other.”

Who is behind The Big Fix?

The project boasts some serious heavyweight talent both in front of and behind the camera. Baltasar Kormákur (Everest, Beast) is sitting in the director’s chair. The current draft of the script was penned by Guy Bolton and Justin Haythe.

The impressive cast list so far includes:

  • Mark Wahlberg (The Union, Spenser Confidential)
  • Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal, The Night Of)
  • Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones)
  • Susan Lynch (Killing Eve, A Thousand Blows)
  • Gabriel Leone (Ferrari, Senna)

The film is being produced by Peter Chernin and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment, alongside Kormákur and Samantha Nisenboim. Executive producers include Bennett Walsh, Chris Eaton, and Jenno Topping.

According to current production listings, filming is scheduled to run through late June 2026. Given the timeline, we likely won’t see The Big Fix hit our screens until mid-to-late 2027, but these early glimpses have us incredibly excited.
