A Cartoon Network series many would consider a childhood classic is making a comeback this week: Regular Show.
It’s time to join Mordecai and Rigby on a new adventure in the series continuation Regular Show: The Lost Tapes. Premiering Monday, May 11, the new season will feature nine episodes that have never been before. According to reports, this is just the beginning. There are 30 additional episodes banked for later release.
Series creator and star J.G. Quintel shared the new episodes allow the series to return to the things that “made it so cool.”
“Eventually, I think the show got some calls to the point they were like, ‘We need you guys to tone it down and take some of that stuff out.’ And we had to retroactively pull some of the language and some of the stuff they don’t let us get away with as much,” he revealed in a chat with Variety. “But we have been able to lean back on what made us so popular. […] I’m so excited for the new season, because I feel like we’ve got a lot of that vibe.”
Quintel noted the series will not only feature one-off adventures. “It’ll be important to have watched it all, and there will be a payoff. Watching it through to the end will be really satisfying,” he advised.
In addition to creating and executive producing the series, which premiered in 2010, Quintel also stars in the series as Mordecai, alongside Rigby voice actor William Salyers, and Sam Marin, Mark Hamill, Roger Craig Smiht and more.
