Netflix removing beloved comedy series in June 2026 and fans won’t be happy

The last thing anyone wants to hear is that their favorite show is leaving Netflix. Whether it’s been available to stream on the platform for many years or it was just recently added, it’s frustrating when that easy access is taken away. Unfortunately for fans of the Canadian comedy series Kim’s Convenience, its time on Netflix will be up once June 2026 rolls around.

While What’s on Netflix was the first to report on the show’s impending removal, the official Kim’s Convenience page on Netflix now displays a warning for when it will leave. According to Netflix, the final day to watch all five seasons of the beloved comedy is Monday, June 1, meaning the show will be pulled on June 2. From there, it’s unclear which streamer (if any) will gain the series.

Kim’s Convenience leaving Netflix in June 2026

New of the show being removed from Netflix globally shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially since Kim’s Convenience first left Netflix in Canada back in 2023. The streamer could have renewed the licensing agreement, but without that happening, the show leaving was always in the cards, and the day finally arrives five years after the fifth and final season dropped in June 2025. Still, the fact the series will no longer be available on Netflix will surely cause frustration among fans.

For about eight years, Kim’s Convenience has called Netflix its streaming home following its debut on the platform in 2018. Netflix licensed the comedy from CBC in Canada back in 2018 and the show quickly gained a following on the streamer. With each new season that was added, the series gained popularity and was among one of the most beloved and popular shows on Netflix.

The series centers on the titular Korean-Canadian Kim family as they run their Toronto convenience store, borrowing its premise from the play of the same name by Ins Choi. Kim’s Convenience stars Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon, Andrea Bang, Simu Liu, Andrew Phung, and Nicole Power and ran for five seasons between 2016 and 2021. All told, the series contains 65 episodes.

Kim’s Convenience wasn’t only beloved by its devoted viewers but also critics. The first season boasts the very rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, an indication of its widespread acclaim. In addition to being positively reviewed, the series also picked up a number of Canadian Screen Award wins throughout its run, including taking home the top prize for Best Comedy Series in 2018.

You would think because of its critical and commercial success, Kim’s Convenience would have lasted longer than five seasons. If that had been the case, the show wouldn’t be leaving Netflix in June 2026. Sadly, the show’s season 6 renewal was reversed when creators Ins Choi and Kevin White revealed they would be departing the series. A spinoff called Strays, centered on Nicole Power’s character Shannon Ross, premiered in 2021 and lasted for only two seasons.

Even though the show’s removal date is coming up very quickly, it’s entirely possible to sneak in at least one more binge-watch of the complete series. Each season contains 13 episodes that are about 20 minutes apiece. That’s by far one of the quickest binge-watches of a semi-long-running show on Netflix. But you have to hurry because June is coming up quickly!
