Netflix’s brand new comedy series I Suck at Girls, with Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker as showrunners, is being eyed to begin filming in July 2026. The series will star Kayo Martin, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Laila Pruitt. Here’s everything we know about I Suck at Girls.

I Suck at Girls is an upcoming Netflix Original comedy series led by showrunners Justin Halpern (Abbot Elementary) and Patrick Schumacker (Harley Quinn), and is based on the New York Times best-selling autobiography of the same name by Halpern. The pair is also executive producers on the series for Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions.

Justin Halpern shared a statement about the project with Netflix:

“I’m incredibly excited to make a show that can hopefully capture the funny, emotional and oftentimes humiliating experience of growing up. As opposed to just the emotional and humiliating experience of my life as an adult.”

Bill Lawrence (Scrubs), Jeff Ingold (Ted Lasso), and Liza Katzer (Shrinking) are executive producers on the series for Doozer Productions. Warner Bros. Television is the studio behind the project.

Tracey Pakosta, Netflix Vice President of Comedy Series, US, also shared a statement about the project:

“We’re thrilled to partner with Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Bill Lawrence to bring Justin’s hilariously relatable autobiography, I Suck at Girls, to the screen. They have a rare ability to turn deeply personal, unconventional ideas into culture-defining series that are sharp, funny, and deeply human. This show captures universal truths about life and relationships with authentic heart and humor, we believe it’s a story audiences will genuinely love and connect with.”

What is the plot of I Suck at Girls

Netflix has provided a logline for the series:

“Three awkward high school sophomores stumble through the messy world of teenage romance and identity, learning that sucking at girls is just part of growing up.”

Laila Pruitt starred as Nicole in the biographical crime-drama Black Mafia Family and as Finn Lambert in the series Will Trent.

At the time of writing, it remains unclear if Christopher Meloni is still attached to the project, as he was previously attached to the pilot, as reported by Production Weekly.
