Ricky Gervais is returning to Netflix, and this time he’s bringing his signature comedic voice to the world of adult animation with Alley Cats. Comprising six 15-minute episodes, this 2D British animated comedy is currently slated to make its global premiere on the streamer later this year.

Billed as a slacker sitcom, the series follows the everyday trials and tribulations of a group of feral British felines from various walks of society. As the street-savvy cats seek out companionship and ruminate on the mundane details of everyday life, viewers can expect the perfect blend of biting humor, absurdity, heart, and sharp social commentary that has become a staple of Gervais’ television projects.

Gervais not only created and executive produces the series—while also directing the pilot—but he will lend his voice to the project alongside a phenomenal cast of British comedy stalwarts. The lineup reunites Gervais with several of his frequent collaborators, featuring the vocal talents of Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, Natalie Cassidy, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, and Tony Way. The project is being brought to life by the teams at Derek Productions, Blink Industries, and Shush Creative.

Anchivo Motors

  • Creator: Brett Cawley and Robert Maitia
  • Studio: Underground
  • Genre: Adult

Add another adult animated comedy to Netflix’s growing slate with Anchivo Motors, a new half-hour series brought to you by creators Brett Cawley and Robert Maitia. Much like a couple of others on this list, Netflix itself has yet to officially announce, so treat it as in active development, and if we don’t hear about it within a few years, assume it didn’t move forward.

Stepping up to the plate in the workplace comedy arena, the series revolves around the daily grind of a family-owned auto dealership. The story follows a former baseball star who, after his time on the diamond comes to an end, attempts to pivot and plots his second act as a car salesman.

Executive produced by and starring Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry, the series promises a gritty, high-octane twist on the steampunk genre.

Set in a lawless Steampunk West that’s overrun by brutal outlaws, terrifying machines, and supernatural threats, the story follows a father who is forced to become judge, jury, and executioner. As he dishes out his own brand of justice to protect his family, he carries the heavy burden of knowing that his violent choices might ultimately cost him the very people he is fighting to save.

Brought to life by the powerhouse animation team at Studio Mir, the series boasts an absolutely stellar voice cast. Joining Henry (who voices Bass) are Janelle Monáe as Glory, Tati Gabrielle as Dana, Cree Summer as Ahni, Chaske Spencer as Lighthorse, Currie Graham as Rivenbark, and Starletta DuPois as Etta. To complete the immersive frontier atmosphere, the series will also feature an original score composed by Roman GianArthur and Nate Wonder.

Cramming quality father-son bonding time into a single weekend is already a tall order, but Ian possesses a remarkable gift for making things much harder than they need to be.

In addition to steering the ship behind the scenes, Ashby, Cusack, and Russo will also lend their vocal talents to the project. They join a voice cast that includes Australian comedian and actress Felicity Ward, best known for her role in the Aussie version of The Office.

The project features a stellar voice cast led by Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu, Poppy Liu, and co-creator Andrew Law. Behind the scenes, the series carries some serious comedy pedigree, with TV heavyweights Michael Schur (The Good Place, Parks and Recreation) and Alan Yang (Master of None, Parks and Recreation) serving as executive producers alongside David Miner. Powerhouse animation studio Titmouse (Big Mouth, The Legend of Vox Machina) will handle the animation, with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina also executive producing.

Spearheaded by writer and executive producer Sinead Daly alongside director Lynn Wang, the half-hour series brings the beloved vampire romance into the realm of adult animation.

For those unfamiliar with the book, Midnight Sun is a retelling of the very first Twilight story, but this time, the narrative unfolds entirely from the perspective of Edward Cullen. Fans will get to experience the lore through the eyes of the captivating and famously sparkly vampire as he navigates his fateful first encounters with a young Bella Swan.

The highly anticipated literary adaptation brings together a powerhouse lineup of production companies, including Lionsgate Television, PICTURESTART, Temple Hill Entertainment, and Meyer’s own Fickle Fish Films. Minecraft Netflix Series Adaptation

Get your pickaxes ready! The best-selling video game of all time is getting the Netflix treatment with a brand new half-hour CGI animated adaptation of Minecraft.

First announced to eager fans during the franchise’s massive 15th-anniversary celebration, the series promises to expand the beloved block-building universe. Rather than treading familiar territory, the 3D action-comedy will feature a completely original story with a brand new cast of characters, aiming to showcase the world of Minecraft in a totally new light.

The highly anticipated project boasts a strong creative team, with Kevin Adams and Joe Ksander taking the reins as showrunners, joined by head writer A.C. Bradley. To bring this sprawling, pixelated adventure to the screen, Netflix and game developer Mojang Studios have tapped animation powerhouses WildBrain and Flying Bark Productions.

This is likely still quite a way out, with only concept art having been debuted to audiences at Annecy in 2025. Fingers crossed we get some more first looks soon!

Wacky Wednesday and Thidwick The Big Hearted Moose

  • Creator: Dustin Ferrer
  • Studio: Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Atomic Cartoons
  • Genre: Kids / Preschool

While it was noticeably absent from Netflix’s recent major Dr. Seuss universe update (with Horton Hears a Who!, Red Fish Blue Fish, and The Sneetches having launched), Wacky Wednesday and Thidwick The Big Hearted Moose projects were first unveiled all the way back in 2022. First announced back in 2022 as part of a massive expanded partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, we’ve learned that talent from Atomic Cartoons, at one point at least, was quietly working behind the scenes on this 15-minute hybrid series.

That’s it for the moment! We’ve got a few other titles that we can’t speak about yet, but fingers crossed in the near future!
