With Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” hovering at the top of the Hot 100 for the past three consecutive weeks and for a cumulative month before that, Olivia Rodrigo was going to have some stiff competition for the debut of “Drop Dead,” the lead single off of her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.
But in hitting No. 1 on the chart once again — the fourth time for the singer — Rodrigo has done something that no other artist in history has.
The 23-year-old is the first performer to have the lead singles of her first three albums debut at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100. The former Disney star launched into pop stardom with “Drivers License,” the sensation-starting track off of her first record, Sour. (Good 4 U, a different single for Sour would also go onto to hit No. 1.) Rodrigo repeated the feat with her second album Guts, which rolled out starting with its lead single, “Vampire,” also debuting in the top spot.
Two lead No. 1 singles off of a freshman and sophomore effort was something that no other recording artist had done before — and something that no one has done since. The debut of “Drop Dead” in the No. 1 spot extends Rodrigo’s skyrocketing success story even further into the stratosphere.

The start for “Drop Dead” bodes well for You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which is set for release on June 12. Both the single and the album are already performing well in Gold Derby’s Grammy nomination predictions, with the record currently sitting in second place for Album of the Year and “Drop Dead” in the Top 10 for best Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
