There is no better time to be a fan of Michael B. Jordan than right now. After getting his taste of the blockbuster in a pair of Black Panther movies directed by Ryan Coogler, Jordan worked with the director again last year as a leading man on Sinners, the vampire horror thriller that earned flawless reviews from critics and grossed over $370 million at the box office. Jordan also won his first Oscar for his performance as Smoke and Stack in the film, but it likely won’t be the last by the time his career is over. Now that Sinners is behind him, Jordan has plenty of other projects in development, including a remake of TheThomas Crown Affair co-starring Adria Arjona and a fourth Creed movie. He’s starring in and directing both projects.
However, this afternoon, news broke about a new Michael B. Jordan project that has the potential to be one of the biggest of his career. It’s being reported that Michael B. Jordan is teaming up with Mission: Impossible director and Top Gun: Maverick writer Christopher McQuarrie for a Battlefield movie adaptation based on the popular long-running video game franchise. At this stage of development, it’s believed that McQuarrie will write, direct, and produce the project, with Jordan attached to produce and possibly star as well. Jordan has long expressed a desire to work with Tom Cruise, who has shared the same sentiment, and with Cruise’s’ long-time collaborator in McQuarrie on board, we could finally see the two share the screen for the first time. The Battlefield movie is being pitched to studios right now, and it’s reportedly already sparked an intense bidding war.

Taylor Sheridan Is Developing a ‘Battlefield’ Rival Movie
While Michael B. Jordan and Christopher McQuarrie hammer away at the Battlefield movie, Yellowstone writer Taylor Sheridan continues to work on his Call of Duty script, which Peter Berg has been tapped to direct. News of the project broke late last year, not long after it was announced that Sheridan was leaving Paramount, but the studio officially confirmed the project last week at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Battlefield and Call of Duty have long been rivals in the first-person-shooter gaming scene, but Call of Duty has the edge when it comes to sales. Neither project has any cast members attached at this time, but Jordan is most likely to headline the Battlefield film.
