Ruby Rose’s 2011 Essay Detailing Alleged Night Of Katy Perry Assault Resurfaces – Here’s What She Said Back Then!

Ruby Rose once watered down what allegedly happened between her and Katy Perry years ago in an essay…

Days after accusing the pop star of sexual assault, an article the 40-year-old actress wrote for the Australian news outlet news.com.au in 2011 resurfaced, in which she opened up not only about her sobriety journey but also about the drunken night out with Katy. However, she didn’t get into the very serious incident she is now claiming occurred almost two decades ago. Ruby wrote at the time:

“I spectacularly lost dignity (and keys) one night not too long ago. Remember when Katy Perry and I crashed the year 12 formal? I don’t. I had been off the grog for 30 days — my first attempt at sobriety — and I was out partying with Katy. What I do remember thinking was: ‘I’ll have a drink tonight, I deserve one. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?’ Well, not stopping at one drink, or 10, and then vomiting on Katy’s foot was the answer.”

What Ruby did say in the article that she also remembered was that “nothing horrific happened,” but that night out with Katy pushed her to stop drinking:

“The short answer: I threw up on Katy Perry. And that’s one of the reasons I’ve been off the grog now for almost 90 days. Before you jump to conclusions, nothing horrific happened, nor have I been hit with a DUI — but I just had enough, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life.”

Flash forward to April 2026, and Ruby has a different claim to make about that evening with Katy! On Threads this week, the Orange Is the New Black alum alleged “pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting v****a on my face” until she “projectile” vomited while at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne.

Awful!

Ruby explained that she chose to joke about the incident for a long time, omitting all the horrible details because she “didn’t know how else to handle it.” Plus, the Teenage Dream singer helped her obtain a US visa at the time. But now, Ruby is not holding back and even taking legal action.

The Australian police launched an investigation into Katy after the Meg star filed reports against her on Tuesday. The Grammy winner has vehemently denied the allegations. A former manager at Spice Market also has spoken out about the incident, claiming the two women had “too much to drink” that night. However, he allegedly didn’t witness or hear about any sexual assault or vomiting when they were at the club. But more disturbing misconduct claims against Katy have resurfaced since Ruby bravely came forward — which does not help the performer’s case whatsoever!

What are your thoughts, Perezcious readers? Do you think this essay could hurt Ruby’s case? Let us know in the comments (below).
