If Beef season 2 hit you the way it hit most people, you’re probably still thinking about it. After watching all eight episodes, you’re now left wondering what to watch next that can even come close to that same mix of tension and dark humor.
Well, Netflix doesn’t really have another Beef. That’s part of what makes it stand out. But there are a few shows that live in the same neighborhood emotionally. The End of the F***ing World
This is probably the easiest recommendation if what you liked about Beef season 2 was the emotional chaos underneath the dark humor.
The End of the F***ing World follows James, a quiet teenager who’s convinced he might be a psychopath, and Alyssa, who is angry, restless, and desperate to escape her home life. They run away together almost impulsively, and from there, everything just keeps getting more complicated.
What starts as a strange teenage road trip slowly turns into something darker and more emotionally tangled. Neither of them really knows how to deal with what they’re feeling, so everything comes out in the worst possible ways whether that be through impulsive decisions, bad timing, or situations that spiral fast.
What makes The End of the F***ing World feel close to Beef is that sense of emotional instability driving the story. The characters aren’t really in control of themselves, and that lack of control pushes everything forward. It’s funny in a very dry, uncomfortable way, but it also has moments that hit harder than you expect. Overall, it’s short, sharp, and emotionally messy in a way that Beef fans will connect with right away.
Dead to Me
If what stood out in Beef season 2 was the emotional back-and-forth between deeply flawed people, Dead to Me fits that space really well.
It starts with Jen, a widow trying to cope with her husband’s hit-and-run death, and Judy, a woman she meets in a grief support group. They form a close friendship, but there’s a secret hanging over everything. Judy is connected to the accident that changed Jen’s life!
From there, the show becomes a steady spiral of lies, guilt, and emotional damage control. Every attempt to fix things makes them worse, and every truth that comes out creates a new problem. The relationship between Jen and Judy becomes the center of everything, constantly shifting between closeness and betrayal.
What makes it feel similar to Beef is the way it handles escalation. Nothing stays simple. Emotions drive decisions, decisions create consequences, and suddenly both characters are stuck in situations they can’t easily escape.
Dead to Me also has a strong dark comedy layer running underneath it all. Even in serious moments, there’s often awkwardness or absurd timing that keeps it from becoming too heavy, which helps it maintain that Beef-style balance between discomfort and humor.
Santa Clarita Diet
This is the most unconventional pick, but it actually fits the “things spiraling out of control” theme surprisingly well.
Santa Clarita Diet follows a suburban family whose normal life is completely disrupted when the wife, Sheila, becomes a zombie and develops a craving for human flesh. Instead of panicking or falling apart, the family decides to try and manage it like any other problem. But that’s where things get increasingly chaotic.
What makes this show work is the contrast between tone and subject matter. On the surface, it’s a normal suburban family dealing with everyday life. But underneath that, they’re also dealing with extreme, often gruesome situations that keep escalating.
For Beef fans, the connection is less emotional and more structural. Problems don’t stay contained, one issue leads to another, and every attempt to fix something just creates a bigger mess. The characters keep adapting, but never quite catch up to how far things have already gone.
Santa Clarita Diet is definitely more comedic and exaggerated than Beef. However, it still plays with the idea of normal people being pushed into completely abnormal circumstances and trying (badly) to stay in control.
