Ever since the explosive third season of The Night Agent dropped on Netflix in February 2026, fans have been angling for any and all details about what’s coming up for Peter’s next mission. Thankfully, Netflix went ahead and gave the globally popular spy thriller an official renewal for season 4 after lots of buzz and rumors, and now we know when Peter’s next mission will kick off.
Along with The Night Agent season 4 renewal, the hit Netflix series received a new filming location and possible setting for Peter’s new mission. The fourth season will be filmed, at least in part (because we know Peter travels the globe), in Los Angeles, California. This spring, cameras will begin rolling on the new season on the West Coast, paving the way for the show’s next release.
The Night Agent season 4 begins filming in May 2026
According to What’s on Netflix, who received filming information from Production Weekly, The Night Agent season 4 starts production on May 4, 2026. Previously, the season was expected to begin filming by the end of May, so the earlier start is promising. As with previous seasons, filming should take place across around five months, with production looking to wrap up by Sept. 24. Of course, these dates could shift here or there given any potential delays or being ahead of schedule.
If you’re hoping that because The Night Agent season 4 will finish filming by the end of September that we could see the episodes premiere before 2026 ends, that’s not going to be the case. Netflix hasn’t released two seasons of the series within the same calendar year yet, and the streamer isn’t going to start now, especially not when post-production will take up the remainder of the year.
While it’s far too soon to start predicting release dates, it’s highly likely that The Night Agent season 4 will once again premiere in the early portion of the year, as the first three seasons have dropped in March 2023, January 2025, and February 2026. We’re looking at an early 2027 release for season 4, and that could probably happen sometime in February or March, though spring is also on the table.
Given how the viewership for The Night Agent season 3 fell compared to past seasons, we’re lucky that season 4 is happening and so soon. But even though the spy thriller might not be packing as big of a punch as its initial debut, it’s still one of the biggest Netflix original series around the world, and we’re no less invested in the life and high-stakes missions of Peter Sutherland.
Before production kicks off in May, there aren’t a lot of details know about the new season, including who will appear in the season beyond Gabriel Basso in the leading role. The cast’s uncertain at this moment, as is the storyline. The season 3 finale didn’t leave a cliffhanger or set up a new mission apart from teasing that Peter will have a new partner, whom we might know.
