Today, Amazon announced that it’s launching its newest and most portable ever streaming device, the Fire TV Stick HD, which comes with the new Fire TV user interface and Alexa+ built in.
The new Fire TV Stick HD is Amazon’s slimmest streaming device, smaller in volume and width than previous models, and made for taking with you when you travel. The new model is optimized for Direct Power through a TV’s USB port, so it fits more neatly behind a TV without requiring a separate power adapter. The new model will run on Amazon’s Vega OS, rather than Android, so most streaming apps will be supported, but users won’t be able to sideload unofficial or third party apps.
Improving on previous models, the Fire TV Stick HD has better speed, making it 30% faster on average than the last generation HD Stick. You’ll find that apps open more quickly, so you can switch between apps and get content started faster than ever. It also comes with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support for more reliable connections.
The Fire TV Stick HD is available for pre-orders starting today, at a price of $34.99. It’s scheduled to ship to customers by the end of
the month in Canada, Mexico, the U.S., the UK, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and later in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
In addition, Amazon is launching a new TV, designed to look like art in your home. The Amazon Ember Artline is now available for preorder.
The TV will come with over 2,000 free art pieces, available without any additional fees or subscriptions required. The collection includes Impressionist classics by Monet, Degas, and Renoir, alongside contemporary works of street art, murals, mixed media, and photography. Customers also have access to 60 exclusive motion video pieces commissioned by documentary filmmaker Sam Nuttmann, who traveled the world capturing landscape and wildlife scenes. Customers can also upload photos of their space to get AI-generated recommendations for artwork.
There are 10 frame color options to choose from and two size options, 55-inch and 65-inch models, starting at $899.99. The TVs will start shipping to customers on April 22 in the U.S. and Canada, May 7 in the UK, and in Germany later in May.
