With his buddy Seth Rogen’s The Studio sitting out this Emmy cycle, Jason Segel and his Shrinking crew might be perfectly positioned to take advantage and score their first statuettes.
Co-created by Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein, Apple TV’s acclaimed comedy about a group of psychiatrists and their friends, family, and patients just wrapped an eventful Season 3 and is looking to break into the win column after racking up nine nominations for the first two seasons. Perhaps a couple of Emmy all-stars will help move the needle this time around.
Gold Derby has confirmed that the show will submit 15 performers across the lead, supporting, and guest categories, with the latter entries including five-time winners Michael J. Fox and Candice Bergen.

Read on for a breakdown of the Shrinking submissions for the 2026 Emmys.
Best Comedy Series
After two nods for Season 1, Shrinking announced itself as a formidable contender at last year’s Emmys with seven nominations for its second season, including for Best Comedy Series. Per the latest Gold Derby odds, the show is a virtual lock for a second consecutive nomination, with a better than 95% chance, second only to Hacks.

Ford picked up his first career nod last year and was considered the favorite going into the Emmys but lost in an surprise to Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere). Ford should be back again this year; he’s leading all contenders in the Gold Derby odds, just ahead of Urie, while McGinley (No. 12) and Tennie (No. 19) are longer shots at landing a nomination.

Best Comedy Guest Actor
Jeff Daniels
Brett Goldstein
Michael J. Fox
Shrinking is bringing out the big guns in the guest categories, giving the show a strong opportunity to pick up multiple nominations. In addition to five-time Emmy legend Fox (who very well could add to his 18 career nominations), there are a couple of two-timers in Goldstein and Jeff Daniels in contention.

Best Comedy Guest Actress
Cobie Smulders
Candice Bergen
Sherry Cola
As noted, Bergen is another ringer with five wins in nine nominations — and, bonus, an inductee into the Emmy Hall of Fame — and could be in line for a nod here. But don’t sleep on Colbie Smulders, adorkably reunited with Segel after their time on How I Met Your Mother, or Sherry Cola, doing career-best work as a patient with severe depression.

Shrinking will also submit in the following categories:
- Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series: episode(s) TBD
- Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series: episode(s) TBD
- Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour): Cabot McMullen
- Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series: Brett Benner; Debby Romano
- Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (Half-Hour): Episode 307: “I Will Be Grape,” John Brawley
- Outstanding Contemporary Costumes: Allyson B. Fanger
- Outstanding Picture Editing for a Comedy Series: Sarah Lucky (Episode TBD); James Renfroe (Episode TBD)
- Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling: George Guzman
- Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic): Linda Choi
- Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score): “And That’s Our Time,” Tom Howe
- Outstanding Music Supervision: Episode 308: “Depression Diet,” Christa Miller; Tony Von Pervieux, Music Supervisor
- Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation: “I Will Be Grape,” Bobby Mackston; Miriam Cole
- Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation: Episode 307: “I Will Be Grape” – Earl Martin
Note: These are the official Apple submissions and subject to change; performers can self-submit, as well, so actors not listed may still wind up on the final Emmy ballot when nominations are unveiled on July 8.
