Emmys: 4 TV producers with multiple series in contention

For decades, TV has been a medium largely ruled by the mega-producer, writer-creators who have a knack for pulling projects together that get the greenlight and air for years.

But this year at the Emmys, the stars have aligned such that several big television producers could have multiple series in contention at the same time. Maybe it’s a bit of luck in scheduling or a sign of the still-growing power of producers in the industry. Either way, the 2026 Emmy Awards could become a battle of the multi-series EPs.

Here’s a look at the names that could be appearing multiple times on the nominations list this summer.

Bill Lawrence

While several producers may have more than one show in the running for Emmys, none can really compete with Bill Lawrence, who is prolific in a standard year but has three different series vying for consideration in 2026. And that’s without Ted Lasso, which won’t return for its fourth season until after this eligibility cycle closes. Lawrence has his hands full otherwise, with Shrinking, Rooster, and the Scrubs revival all submitting in the comedy categories.

Of the three series, Shrinking is currently in the best position to get Lawrence a nomination. The Apple TV series is ranked second in Gold Derby’s nomination predictions for Best Comedy Series. At the moment, Rooster is just outside nomination range, in 10th place at the time of publication.

But with weeks to go before voting begins in June, there’s plenty of time for those positions to change and Lawrence to lock up two nods.

Taylor Sheridan

The man responsible for what seems like half of Paramount’s TV output, the one behind Yellowstone and all of its spin-offs, has never been nominated for an Emmy. That could potentially change this year. With the premiere of The Madison — bolstered by the always-good Michelle Pfeiffer, who could also double up thanks to Margo’s Got Money Troubles — and the return of the increasingly hard-to-ignore Landman, Sheridan is in the best position in years to get his first nomination. Landman has been creeping up the odds, currently ranked 14th in Best Drama Series.

Ryan Murphy

It has been eight years since Ryan Murphy has won an Emmy Award, despite several nominations in the meantime. This year, he has two shows that could add to that total — one of which he co-created and the other he served as an executive producer. The Beauty, which harkened back to some of Murphy’s more gonzo-style horror instincts, may be presently ranking number 36 in Best Drama Series, but Love Story, the newest anthology format from his brand, sits at number three in Best Limited Series.

Dan Fogelman

The man most likely to receive two Best Series nominations also achieved the same last year. Dan Fogelman is in prime position to score nods for both Best Comedy Series and Best Drama Series with Only Murders in the Building and Paradise, respectively. The Hulu comedy-mystery series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez ranks in fourth of likely nominees for Best Comedy Series, and the ABC thriller led by Sterling K. Brown rounds out the top five in Best Drama Series.
