The incredible Park Eun-bin and renowned K-pop idol and actor Cha Eun-woo lead Netflix’s highly anticipated superhero K-drama, The WONDERfools. Filming concluded in May 2025, and as of May 15, 2026, the series is officially streaming on Netflix! Here’s your complete guide to everything you need to know about The WONDERfools, from the superpowered cast to the episode guide.

The WONDERfools is a South Korean Netflix Original superhero drama series written by Kang Eun-kyung (Gyeongseong Creature) and directed by Yoo In-shik (Extraordinary Attorney Woo).

Filming for The WONDERfools took place between October 22nd, 2024, and May 22nd, 2025. Following a lengthy post-production process to nail the superhero CGI, the series has now been officially released worldwide on Netflix.

What is the plot of The WONDERfools?

Set in 1999, when Y2K fears were at an all-time high, The WONDERfools is a comedic, action-packed Korean series about a motley crew of awkward, ordinary citizens who suddenly gain superpowers.

In the weeks leading up to the turn of the millennium, the small Korean town of Haeseong City is gripped by a series of unsettling events. People are vanishing without a trace, and an eerie new church is taking hold — a chilling echo of the horrors the town thought it had long ago buried.

Our trio of ordinary misfits are more concerned with their own issues until a fake kidnapping goes catastrophically wrong at a toxic garbage dump. They wake up with newfound superpowers and discover that they’re the only ones who can save their town from superpowered villains known as “Wunderkinders.” The catch? Their powers are largely defective or come with comically inconvenient conditions. As these goofball heroes learn to hone their abilities, they realize their real power lies in knowing what they’re truly fighting for.

Who is in the cast of The WONDERfools?

Wow Factor The Wonderfools Still #2Wow Factor The Wonderfools Still #2

Picture: Park Eun Bin as Eun Chae Ni in The WONDERfools – Netflix

Park Eun-bin plays Eun Chae-ni. Known as the trainwreck of Haeseong City, 27-year-old Chae-ni learns her congenital heart condition is terminal. She devises a fake kidnapping plot to fund her bucket-list travels, but accidentally dies at a local trash dump. She wakes up with teleportation powers and a superheart that won’t let her stay dead. Park Eun-bin is familiar to Netflix subscribers from her smash hits Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Castaway Diva, and The King’s Affection.

Cha Eun-woo plays Lee Un-jeong. A quiet, rule-abiding civil servant with a telekinetic superpower. He’s on a mission to find his birth mother and escape a traumatic past, preferring to work alone until Chae-ni forces him into their cause. This is Cha Eun-woo’s final role before his military discharge (expected January 2027), following his massive popularity in True Beauty, Island, and Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung.

Joining our leading duo are a phenomenal supporting cast playing both heroes and terrifying villains:

  • Choi Dae-hoon (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, One Dollar Lawyer) as Son Gyeong-hun: A well-intentioned sad sack who complains heavily about the town’s toxic dump site. After his exposure to the runoff, he gains a comically karmic superpower: whenever he tells a lie, his hands stick to whatever he’s touching until he tells the truth.
  • Im Seong-jae (Hellbound, Newtopia) as Kang Ro-bin: The town’s biggest pushover and Chae-ni’s only friend. As an accomplice in her fake kidnapping, he develops super strength, but with a catch: it is only triggered when his feelings get hurt!
  • Kim Hae-sook (Strong Girl Nam-soon, Under the Queen’s Umbrella) as Kim Jeon-bok: Chae-ni’s strict grandmother and a powerful local businesswoman. She holds a dark secret, having originally financed the mysterious Hawondo Lab that created the superhumans.
  • Son Hyun-joo (Itaewon Class, The Good Detective) as Ha Won-do: The primary villain. A mad scientist who spent 20 years in prison for his experiments creating superhuman “Wunderkinders.” Upon his release, he targets his former subjects to unlock immortality.

The Wunderkinders:
Rounding out the cast are the “Wunderkinders,” a loyal group of surviving test subjects suffering from side effects of Dr. Ha’s experiments:

  • Jeong E-suh (Mine, A Killer Paradox) as Seok Ju-ran: Has the power to manipulate people’s minds with her voice.
  • Choi Yoon-ji (The Trunk) as Seok Ho-ran: Cloaks Won-do’s lab by projecting hallucinatory fantasy worlds.
  • Bae Na-ra as Kim Pal-ho: A Wunderkinder with the terrifying power to control gravity.
