Adam Sandler ‘Grown Ups 3’ is Officially Coming to Netflix: Everything We Know So Far

Get ready to head back to the lake! After months of whispers and internet speculation, Netflix has officially confirmed that a third installment of the hit comedy franchise Grown Ups is in development for the streamer.

The news was officially unveiled today during the 2026 Netflix Upfronts presentation in New York City, marking yet another massive expansion of Adam Sandler’s long-standing and incredibly lucrative overall deal with Netflix.

While the first two films (Grown Ups in 2010 and Grown Ups 2 in 2013) were distributed by Sony Pictures and were massive box-office successes, Netflix, not for the first time, is bringing one of Sandler’s biggest IPs from another studio in-house to continue the story of Lenny Feder and his childhood pals.

Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming comedy sequel.

Who is behind Grown Ups 3 on Netflix?

According to the official Upfronts press release, the film will reunite Sandler with a familiar face behind the camera. Kyle Newacheck, who previously directed Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in the hit Netflix comedy Murder Mystery, plus last year’s hit movie Happy Gilmore 2, is officially attached to direct the third installment.

The script is being penned by Adam Sandler alongside his long-time collaborator and Happy Madison veteran Tim Herlihy (The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore, Hubie Halloween).

Producing the feature are Adam Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Jack Giarraputo, and Tim Herlihy. Kevin Grady and Judit Maull will serve as Executive Producers.

No word on whether all five of the main cast members, or any of the other ensemble from the first two movies are returning.

What is the plot of Grown Ups 3 and when does it film?

If you’ve been following the Happy Madison rumor mill over the past six months, today’s announcement probably didn’t come as a total shock. There have been plenty of rumors swirling that a third Grown Ups outing was being quietly prepped behind the scenes, with filming at one point reported to take place at the start of the year.

While Netflix kept the official plot details under wraps during today’s presentation, the most recent rumors circulating the project suggest a massive change of scenery for the crew. According to those rumors, the tentative logline for the film is:

“The Feders return after Lenny inherits his childhood summer camp.”

If the rumors hold true, we can expect the usual suspects—presumably bringing back the likes of Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Salma Hayek Pinault—to trade their hometown antics for some summer camp chaos.

Furthermore, recent production rumblings suggest that Grown Ups 3 is eyeing a production start sometime in Summer 2026. What’s particularly interesting is that filming is reportedly set to take place across multiple countries, which would be a massive leap in scale compared to the New England-bound settings of the first two films. Could the childhood summer camp be located overseas? Or is the gang taking an international vacation before the camp hijinks begin? We’ll have to wait and see.

As always, we’ll be keeping a very close eye on this project as it moves through pre-production.
