Is the ‘Obsession’ Horror Movie Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

The new horror movie Obsession—which opens in movie theaters this weekend—offers a lesson that the Pussycat Dolls tried to teach us about many years ago: Be careful what you wish for, ‘cus you just might get it.

Written and directed by Curry Barker (best known for his 2024 found-footage horror film Milk & Serial), Obsession stars Michael Johnston as a young romantic named Bear, who works at a music shop alongside his childhood bestie, Nikki (Inde Navarrette). Bear laments that he’s stuck in the friend zone with Nikki. So when he happens upon a supernatural object in a New Age store that purports to grant him a wish, he wishes for Nikki to fall in love with him. And boy, does he get what he wished for! As it turns out, it’s not so fun having a girl be obsessed with you.

Also starring Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter, Obsession definitely sounds like a horror film made by a 26-year-old man. If you’d rather wait to watch the movie at home, instead of seeing it in a movie theater, read on to find out what we know about when and where the Obsession 2026 movie will be streaming.

Where to watch the Obsession 2026 movie:

Obsession 2026 will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday, May 15, in theaters nationwide. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Obsession is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the Obsession movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Obsession is not streaming on Netflix, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Universal release. Almost all Universal movies go to the NBCUniversal streaming platform, Peacock.

You will be able to purchase Obsession on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital. You will also eventually be able to stream Obsession on Prime Video, free with a Prime subscription, four months after the movie streams on Peacock.

This is thanks to the deal between Universal and Amazon that sends Universal movies to Peacock for the first four months of the “Pay 1 window,” then to Amazon Prime Video for the next months of the window, followed by four more months on Peacock. If our prediction for when Obsession will be on Peacock is correct, then you should see Obsession streaming on Prime around February 2027.

But the first place you’ll be able watch Obsession movie at home will be to buy or rent on digital platforms, followed by a streaming release on Peacock.

Is the Obsession movie streaming on Peacock?

The Obsession movie streaming release date on Peacock has not yet been announced, but you will likely see Obsession streaming on Peacock in late summer or early fall 2026. Another Universal horror release, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, began streaming on Peacock about four months after the movie opened in theaters. But some movies, like MEGAN 2.0 came to Peacock after just three months.

If Obsession follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital in about a month, around mid-June 2026, and streaming on Peacock around mid-September 2026. That said, other Universal movies have taken just three, or even two months to come to Peacock, so you may see Obsession on Peacock even earlier, around August 2026.

This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent digital release strategy. So it varies by title. If you want to watch the Obsession movie right away, your best bet is to catch the movie in theaters.
