2025-26 TV awards season ends with Pitt, Studio, Adolescence on top

And the winners of this year’s TV awards season are… The Pitt, The Studio, and Adolescence.

The three series have dominated their respective awards categories — drama, comedy, and limited series — in every contest since their debuts. From the Gotham TV Awards in last June to Sunday’s BAFTA TV Awards. the trio have racked up an impressive haul of trophies.

When all of the trophies from the 2025-26 TV awards season are combined, Netflix’s Adolescence earns bragging rights for the most wins at 66. Apple TV’s The Studio is right behind with 62 awards, the most for a comedy. Meanwhile, HBO Max’s The Pitt claimed 44 statuettes, topping all dramas.

While film awards season is concentrated into three months (January to March), TV awards season is a year-round affair, based on calendar-year eligibility. Season 1 of The Pitt dropped in January 2025, following by The Studio and Adolescence in March.

The Gotham TV Awards kick-started the TV awards season on June 2, with The Pitt winning Breakthrough Drama Series, The Studio winning Breakthrough Comedy Series, and Adolescence claiming three trophies including Breakthrough Limited Series. That set the stage for what was to come over the next 11 months.

The same three shows dominated the drama, comedy, and limited/movie fields at the 2025 Emmys on Sept. 14, the Critics Choice Awards on Jan. 4, the Golden Globes on Jan. 11, and the Actor Awards on March 1, plus at various critics’ kudos and guild awards.

But the awards lovefest didn’t stop there. In recent weeks, Adolescence and The Pitt were recognized at the Peabody Awards, while The Studio and Adolescence closed out the season this weekend at the BAFTA TV Awards.

At Sunday’s British celebration, The Studio won Best International Series, becoming the first Apple TV program to win in the category and the first comedy to do so in a decade since Transparent in 2016. The satire also became the first comedy ever to sweep all of the major series awards in a season and only the second overall series to accomplish the feat after Shōgun in 2024. Seth Rogen dedicated the BAFTA win to his late co-star Catherine O’Hara during an emotional acceptance speech, saying, “She meant so much to all of us, I assume she meant the same to you here.”

“The historic journey of The Studio has been nothing short of astounding,” said Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s head of programming. “The show’s sweeping success is a testament to the extraordinary talent, creativity and innovation of Seth, Evan and the entire creative team and cast. The series has resonated deeply with audiences worldwide, bringing laughter to millions. We couldn’t be prouder of the team’s monumental achievement and the way The Studio has redefined what’s possible for comedy on a global scale.”

Also at BAFTA, Netflix’s acclaimed limited series Adolescence became the only show of the night to win four awards, taking home Best Limited Drama, Best Leading Actor for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Actor for Owen Cooper, and Best Supporting Actress for Christine Tremarco. In one of the ceremony’s biggest surprises, Tremarco prevailed over her co-star Erin Doherty, who had previously won the Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Award.

Acting-wise, The Pitt dominated the drama actor races all season long for Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch; he prevailed at the Emmys, Critics Choice, Golden Globes, and Actor Awards. The same goes for The Studio and the comedy actor categories for Rogen as Matt Remick. For Adolescence, Graham and Cooper, who played a caring father and a criminal son, won almost every time they were separated into their respective lead and supporting categories. However, they were notably combined at the Actor Awards, with the teenager proving triumphant.

What’s next for these three programs? Adolescence has teased a second season, but it’s still in the early stages. The Studio is filming its sophomore season right now after a brief delay brought about by the death of O’Hara; it’s sitting out this upcoming Emmy cycle. And The Pitt just finished streaming Season 2 on HBO Max and is eligible at the 2026 Emmys, where it’s projected to outperform season 1 with even more nominations.
