Get ready, animation fans! The Annecy International Animation Film Festival is just around the corner, and Netflix is bringing an absolutely monstrous slate to France this year.
As we previously reported a few weeks ago in our coverage of Netflix’s initial Annecy lineup, we already knew that heavy-hitters like Brad Bird’s Ray Gunn, the highly-anticipated Ghostbusters animated series, and Ricky Gervais’ Alley Cats were heading to the festival. But if you thought that was it, think again. Netflix just dropped its full schedule, and it’s added huge new surprises, including a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory spin-off and a stacked anime slate, hopefully with a few more up its sleeve.
As a reminder, this year, the Annecy Film Festival runs from June 21st to June 27th, with Netflix presenting its slate on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Before we dive into the full lineup, a quick public service announcement: The What’s on Netflix team, including a couple of other contributors and me, will be on the ground at Annecy 2026! Make sure you’re following us across all our social media channels (Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook) because we’ll be bringing you live updates, any available interviews, sneak peek photos, and real-time news straight from the festival.

Here is your full extended preview of everything Netflix is bringing to Annecy 2026.

Prepare for a completely different trip to the chocolate factory. As unveiled last month and executive-produced by and starring Taika Waititi as Willy Wonka (who has just spent years behind actual bars for turning a child into a blueberry), this new animated feature sees him returning to a bitter world. Teenager Charlie Paley (voiced by Heartstopper’s Kit Connor) and his friends plot a heist on the factory to steal a priceless Wonka Bar and save their homes from eviction. Netflix will be showing off exclusive sneak peeks at the “Next on Netflix Animation” showcase.

As we mentioned in our initial preview, visionary director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant) is finally bringing his 30-plus-year passion project to life with Skydance Animation, and the first looks were revealed last month ahead of its release late this year.
Set in “Metropia,” an alternate future as imagined from 1939, the film follows private eye Raymond Gunn as he gets pulled into a web of aliens, murder, and a multimedia star named Venus Nova. The voice cast is staggering, featuring Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Waits. We now know Bird will be on stage at the Théâtre Bonlieu on Wednesday, June 24, for a deep-dive conversation moderated by stop-motion legend Peter Lord of Aardman.
Alongside today’s news, we got a new concept art poster piece that’s embedded above.
