After an emotional week on Big Brother 28 that resulted in Angela Murray becoming the first reality TV icon sent to the jury house, Yash Patel won the Week 10 Head of Household competition and nominated Barrett Pfeiffer, Drew Campbell, and Melody Morris for eviction.
Before his HOH win, Yash struck a deal with icons Dee Valladares and Rick Devens: he and Taylor Brown would save Dee from elimination if she promised to go after Barrett and Drew. Yash then won the HOH, but because of the BB Bribe he accepted weeks ago, he couldn’t have put Dee or Devens on the block even if he’d wanted to. So he nominated the only three people left besides Taylor, his No. 1 ally — and after this week, the BB Bribe will be fulfilled.
Power of Veto
Joining Yash, Barrett, Drew, and Melody in the Power of Veto competition were Dee and Devens. Yes, the only person not chosen to play was Taylor. If she had won, she would have been the only one able to pull someone off the block and force Yash to nominate Dee or Devens, since it would have been mathematically impossible for him to put up anyone else. Now, if the Veto is used, Taylor is the only possible replacement nominee. The icons are safe, at least halfway through Thursday’s live episode, which will be a double eviction.
When the live feeds returned just after 4:10 p.m. PT on Saturday, we found out that all six competitors were still holding their swords against their platforms. Stay tuned to this article as we will update it as soon as the winner of the hours-long Pressure Cooker Veto competition is named. The ultimate victor will have until Monday’s Veto meeting to decide if they want to pull someone off the block.
Did Yash and Taylor make a smart move saving Dee?
America collectively groaned on Thursday night when Yash and Taylor joined Devens in evicting Angela over Dee. Why, superfans wondered, would they keep the biggest threat in the game over someone who is arguably the worst competitor in the house?
Well, it may end up serving them well. Dee has confirmed — at least for now — that if she were to hold power next week, she would in fact keep Yash and Taylor safe and instead target whoever is left between Barrett, Drew, and Melody after this week’s double eviction.
“I’m scared, because the bribe is over with Yash,” Dee said into the live-feed cameras. “He’s such a good competitor. But I can’t go against him now because he just saved my life. And I also want to show my loyalty to him and Taylor. If they’re down to do final four — I doubt it — but now that the bribe is over, he’s not competing next week. If I win, he’s staying in the game — him and Taylor.”
In terms of comps, Yash and Taylor probably have just as good a chance against Dee and Devens in a final four as they would against Drew and Barrett — if not better. And neither Barrett nor Drew was ever going to take Yash over the other anyway. So Yash and Taylor may have looked foolish in the moment, but that decision could be what lands them in the final four.
That being said, Dee changes her mind whenever the wind blows. So let’s see if this deal holds up.
