This year’s race has been one of the tightest in recent memory, The Pitt notwithstanding. HBO Max’s hit hospital show is expected to cakewalk in Drama Series, with star Noah Wyle also repeating as Drama Actor and co-stars Katharine LaNasa and Patrick Ball having the edge in the supporting races. The one non-Pitt person leading a marquee Drama category is Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn in Best Actress.

The Comedy categories, though, are coming down to a coin-flip between Hacks and Widow’s Bay. The two shows have been jockeying for position heading into the ceremony, with Widow’s Bay nosing ahead in Comedy Series, Comedy Actor (Matthew Rhys), and Supporting Actress (Kate O’Flynn), while Jean Smart looks like a lock for her fifth consecutive Comedy Actress award for Hacks.
Limited Series is also a two-show race, with DTF St. Louis coming on strong following key Creative Arts wins last weekend, to leapfrog the early favorite, Beef.

The 78th Emmy Awards will air live coast-to-coast on NBC and stream on Peacock at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater. Mariska Hargitay will host.
