Gold Derby is serving up Big Brother 28 spoilers all summer long. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Heading into the ninth live eviction episode of Big Brother on Sept. 10, Barrett Pfeiffer had stuck to his plan to cross his Crossovers alliance by ensuring that one of the three reality icons is evicted. The trio’s fate was sealed when Yash Patel won the Power of Veto and did not use it, leaving Angela Murray, Dee Valladares, and Rick Devens with only one more chance to save themselves, not each other.
Let’s break down the key highlights from Thursday night, from the Block Buster comp, through the live eviction, and culminating with the fight to become the next Head of Household, beginning with:
CROSSED + OVER
Even if the icons are being babies about all three of them being on the nomination block, they couldn’t deny that it was a smart play for Barrett to cross them and declare the alliance over. The unexpected development of the week was that the move caused Drew to recede back into the the middle of the house. Melody grew disappointed at his continued sympathetic attitude toward the icons and Dee quickly became upset with him for knowing about Barrett’s plan and not doing enough to stop it. Mad or not, Melody’s evolving feelings toward Drew didn’t stop her from getting flirty with him in the pool… and in front of Mama Angela?!
Knowing better than anyone that two of the icons will remain in the house after the eviction, Dee got to work preparing for what’s next for her if she’s one of them to stay. She convinced Melody that it benefits her to keep the women in the house (and evict Devens). Her next move to sway Yash and Taylor to keep her over the other two with a vow to return to the house with vengeance to seek against Drew and Barrett. Devens made a similar argument to them, but added the element that Angela not being a threat actually makes her a threat to any of them that sit next to her on the block in the future.
BLOCK BUSTER
In “Reinvent the Wheel,” the nominees race to complete a double-sided wheel puzzle. Both Dee and Devens assemble their pieces on the ground before placing them on the podium, but it’s Devens that is first to correctly lock them in and earn his own safety for the second week in a row.
LIVE EVICTION
In the moments after the house learns that Devens is safe, Dee openly pitches to Yash and Taylor that Drew, Barrett and Melody are an unbreakable trio that she can help them dismantle. From the Diary Room, the five eligible houseguests cast their live vote: three to evict Angela (Devens, Taylor, and Yash); two to evict Dee (Drew and Melody). Thus, Angela expresses to those that voted her out that it’s “the right thing to do” as she becomes the second juror. While Angela thinks it was a smart move to keep Dee, Julie Chen Moonves expresses her own disbelief in it as well as questioning why Angela would stay loyal to the other icons through to the end of the game. “People in the house are already like she’s already won Survivor,” Angela says about her chances at winning against Dee in front of the jury.
