Beyond Fest will open its 2026 edition with Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime and close with Bassam Tariq’s Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother as the Los Angeles-set genre festival revealed its full lineup Wednesday.
The fest, which runs September 23-October 6, will feature 10 world premieres and four North American premieres within its 81-film lineup, which will include buzzy titles for the L.A. crowd that includes Victorian Psycho, Paper Tiger, 35mm screenings of Ken Russell’s The Devils, the first two episodes of Mike Flanagan’s Carrie and Alex Gibney’s new doc Musk.
Among the world premieres is V/H/S/Mixtape, the latest in the horror anthology series mashing filmmakers Ernest Dickerson, Flying Lotus, Tobias Forge, David Moreau, RZA and Renee Zhan
Special features include Robert Eggers taking over the Egyptian Theatre in person to screen his horror pics The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman and Nosferatu in order, along with sneak-peeking his upcoming Werwulf. Organizers also said that among those expected to appear in-person are M. Night Shyamalan (with his own retrospective), Conor Oberst, Jamie Lee Curtis, Matt Berry, Michael Mann, Dolph Lundgren, Danny DeVito, Al Pacino, Martin Brest, Fede Álvarez, Bruce Dern, Rodo Sayagues, Stephen Lang and Jeremy Saulnier.
Restortation and recut screenings include 4K versions of David Lynch’s Wild at Heart, Michael Mann’s Miami Vice, Bong Joon Ho’s The Host and Jackie Chan’s Rumble in the Bronx as well as E. Elias Merhige’s Begotten and Michele Soavi’s The Goodbye Kiss.
Beyond Fest is presented by Mubi and programmed and produced in partnership with the American Cinematheque, with all ticket-sale proceeds going to the latter.
“Beyond Fest is at its most exciting when a world premiere, a radical new filmmaker, a 70mm epic and a once-in-a-lifetime tribute can all exist within the same program,” said Chris LeMaire, American Cinematheque’s Director of Programming. “This slate reflects the range, curiosity and complete commitment to theatrical cinema shared by Beyond Fest and the American Cinematheque.”
Events and screenings will take place at the Egyptian, the Mubi Theatre at the Aero, Directors Village and the Mubi Theatre at the Los Feliz 3.
