Apparently, the only thing that can stop a serial killer is a midlife crisis.
The second season of Dexter: Resurrection debuts this October and focuses on everyone’s favorite anti-hero as he grapples with aging. Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, a former Miami-based blood-spatter analyst who uses his skills to murder evildoers. He’s now living in New York City with his son, Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott), and is getting closer with Charley Brown (Uma Thurman), a hitwoman who worked for the now-deceased Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage).

THE CAST

Hall leads the revival series alongside returning stars Thurman as Charley Brown, Alcott as Harrison Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Melvin Oliva, Desmond Harrington as Joey Quinn, and James Remar as Harry Morgan.
New cast members for Season 2 include Dan Stevens as Owen Stark, Bokeem Woodbine as Captain Mixon, Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon, Gabriel Luna as Ray Ballard, and Brian Cox as Don Framt. Krysten Ritter also returns as Mia LaPierre/Lady Vengeance.
Earlier this year, Hall told Gold Derby that David Zayas might return as the late Angel Batista, hinting: “In the world of Dexter, never say never. [Angel still resides] in Dexter’s mind and heart.”
THE PLOT
Here is the official logline from Paramount+: “Dexter Morgan is caught between two killers — one with decades of notoriety and a lifetime of kills behind him, and the other a fresh young face terrorizing New York in ways no one has ever seen. Meanwhile, Dexter battles a new and unexpected enemy: a midlife crisis. Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son face their darkest chapter yet.”
THE TRAILER
On Sept. 8, Paramount+ released the first teaser for Season 2. In the 40-second video, an ophthalmologist gives a middle-aged Dexter an eye exam and asks him repeatedly whether his vision is “better before, or better now?” A blurry text soon comes into focus: “He’s back and sharper than ever.”
THE PREMIERE DATE

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 begins streaming on Paramount+ on Oct. 30, one day before Halloween. The original Dexter series plus its spin-offs, Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin, are all available to binge on the platform.
THE CREATIVES
Clyde Phillips returns as showrunner and executive producer for the new season. Fellow EPs include Hall, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Veronica West, Kirsa Rein, Tanner Bean, and Katrina Mathewson.
AWARDS PROSPECTS
The first season of Dexter: Resurrection was mostly snubbed by awards shows, but that wasn’t surprising: TV show revivals rarely earn much awards attention. The original Dexter, which aired from 2006 to 2013, was an awards favorite, winning four Emmys from 24 nominations, and taking home both the Golden Globe and SAG Actor Award for Hall.
