Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton are facing off in one of the biggest matches of the 2026 US Open!

The 23-year-old defending champion and No. 2 seed will take on the 23-year-old American No. 8 seed in the men’s singles quarterfinals on Tuesday night (September 8) at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.

The highly anticipated match will determine who advances to the semifinals, where the winner will face either Frances Tiafoe or Alex Michelsen.

What Time Is Carlos Alcaraz vs. Ben Shelton Tonight?

Carlos and Ben will play during the US Open night session at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday.

Their match is scheduled to be the second of the night session, following the women’s quarterfinal between Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro, which begins at 7 p.m. ET.

That means there is no exact scheduled start time for Carlos and Ben. Their match will begin after the match between Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro concludes.

How to Watch Carlos Alcaraz vs. Ben Shelton

The Alcaraz-Shelton quarterfinal will air on ESPN as part of the network’s US Open primetime coverage, which runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Fans can also stream the match live through the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited subscription. ESPN Unlimited subscribers have access to every US Open match from every court throughout the tournament.

Spanish-language coverage will be available on ESPN Deportes.

Has Ben Shelton Ever Beaten Carlos Alcaraz?

Ben will be looking for his first career victory over Carlos.

The two have faced each other three times previously, with Carlos winning all three matches. Their most recent meeting came at the 2025 French Open, where Carlos won in four sets.

Carlos has also won each of his previous 13 matches against American players at Grand Slam tournaments.

Ben earned his spot in the quarterfinals with a straight-sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Carlos defeated Tommy Paul in straight sets.

Carlos is attempting to defend his US Open title and become the first man to win consecutive US Open singles championships since Roger Federer won five straight from 2004 through 2008.
