Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway are off to the races. The duo announced a Days of Thunder sequel on Saturday via an Instagram video posted by Cruise, showing the pair leaning against a green racecar at the Daytona International Speedway.
In the clip, a pregnant Hathaway says, “Let’s make the movie. I’m going to have this baby and then we are going to make the movie.” Cruise excitedly declares, “We’re coming out summer of 2028, don’t be late!” to which Hathaway jokes, “Are you sure you want to go with that?” before the two break into laughter.

THE PLOT
While plot details remain under wraps, according to the studio’s release, “Cruise will return as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle and will be joined by Anne Hathaway who is set to play a team owner and engineer.”
THE CAST
So far, Cruise and Hathaway are the only cast members confirmed for the sequel. The 1990 original starred Cruise alongside Robert Duvall, Nicole Kidman, Cary Elwes, and Randy Quaid.
WHO IS BEHIND THE CAMERA?
In addition to starring, Cruise will produce the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. Jonathan Levine is set to direct from a screenplay by Will Staples.
