The Fault in Our Stars

Based on the John Green novel of the same name, The Fault in Ours Stars was by far one of the defining films of the 2010s decade. Released in 2014, right in the middle of the ’10s, the film brought the tragic love story of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters to life on the big screen.
Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort star in The Fault in Our Stars as the aforementioned teenagers. The pair meet in a cancer patient support group and quickly become close as they fall deep in love. If you caught the movie the first time around, then you know it’s one to watch with tissues.
The Fault in Our Stars will be removed from Netflix after the last day of August, and though it’s also available to stream on Disney+, it’s the perfect title to watch for some end-of-summer emotional catharsis. Plus, who hasn’t had “Boom Clap” by Charli xcx stuck in their head for 12 years?
Poor Things

Earlier this summer, one of Emma Stone’s most controversial movies made its way to Netflix for the first time, but it’s already seeing itself out. Poor Things arrived in June, but with the quick turnaround of its removal following Labor Day Weekend, it’s time to finally watch if you’ve been putting it off.
The reasons to watch Poor Things easily begin with Stone’s performance, which earned the movie star her second Academy Award win for Best Actress. Since teaming up with filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, collaborating on four films so far, Stone’s artistic output has been incredible.
Poor Things might leave you wanting more from Stone, and luckily, her most recent collaboration with Lanthimos, the Oscar-nominated dark comedy Bugonia, is also available to stream on Netflix. Both Zombieland movies are also currently on the streamer, though the first has limited time, too.
Anatomy of a Fall

While it’s fun to watch action movies and thrillers and romantic comedies, the popcorn movies that bring us comfort, it’s also important to watch movies that expand your mind in some way. A balance of high and low brow. Like Poor Things, Anatomy of a Fall fits that high brow bill.
Anatomy of a Fall comes from director Justine Triet and stars Sandra Hüller. The French drama centers on a writer who finds herself taking the blame for her husband’s death after his fatal fall in their home. It’s a complicated process uncovering the case, but the performances are flawless.
Ironically, Anatomy of a Fall was nominated for Best Picture alongside Poor Things, though both films lost to Oppenheimer. The film landed five total Oscar nominations, ultimately taking home the award for Best Original Screenplay. Make sure to watch before it’s pulled from Netflix’s library!
