Chef Domininc “Dom” Taylor, the winner of Netflix‘s Five Star Chef, has died. He was 44.
Taylor’s restaurant, The Good Front Room, confirmed the news in a recent statement on their Instagram and website.
“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of our founder, Chef Dom Taylor,” the statement begins.
“Dom was a visionary whose bold, joyful approach to celebrating the Caribbean cuisine of his childhood brought a fresh and exciting voice to London’s restaurant scene. His passion, talent, and generosity touched so many people, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him and experiencing his food.”
In Five Star Chef‘s inaugural season, Taylor was one of seven professional chefs competing to win an exclusive restaurant in London’s five-star Langham hotel. The British chef impressed the judges and ultimately took the crown with his unique concept that infused Caribbean cooking and traditions into fine dining.
After winning Five Star Chef in 2023, Taylor’s six-month residency at The Langham was successful enough to earn an extension, and eventually led to him opening a standalone location for his restaurant, The Good Front Room, in February, 2026.
“I’m incredibly saddened to hear the news about dear Chef Dom Taylor,” pastry chef and Five Star Kitchen judge Ravneet Gill wrote in a recent Instagram post. “He was instantly captivating from the moment he stepped in front of us.”
Per their website, The Good Front Room will continue to stay open to honor Taylor’s legacy and work.
A cause of death has not been made public.
