Fubo Announces a $15 a Month Price Hike After Adding NBC Back

Fubo, a prominent live television streaming service, has announced the return of NBC channels to its lineup, accompanied by a price increase for subscribers. The platform stated that local NBC affiliates and NBC Sports Network will become available to customers in the coming weeks, expanding the content offerings that already include Bravo, Telemundo, and Universo.

This news means NBC brings access to a range of programming, including Sunday Night Football, national NBA games, Sunday Night Baseball, English Premier League matches, Notre Dame football, WNBA games, and additional sports and entertainment content. The move addresses previous gaps in the service’s channel selection following earlier disputes or carriage disagreements that had removed certain NBCUniversal properties.

Here is the new pricing for Fubo’s plans once NBC goes live:

  • Essential – $88.99/month
  • Pro – $88.99/month
  • Core* – $88.99/month
  • Elite – $98.99/month
  • Ultra* – $98.99/month
  • Ultimate – $113.99/month
  • Deluxe – $118.99/month

Fubo has positioned itself as a sports-focused streaming alternative to traditional cable and satellite providers. The platform emphasizes unlimited cloud DVR, simultaneous streams on multiple devices, and a wide array of live channels without the long-term contracts common in legacy television services. The return of NBC strengthens its sports portfolio, particularly for viewers interested in national football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and collegiate athletics.

The streaming industry continues to face challenges related to content costs, as rights fees for major sports leagues and broadcast networks have escalated in recent years. Providers like Fubo must balance the addition of popular channels with the need to maintain sustainable operations. This price adjustment follows a pattern seen across the sector, where many services have raised rates to accommodate expanded programming or inflation in licensing agreements.

Fubo originally launched with a focus on sports and has since broadened its appeal through partnerships with multiple content providers. The platform’s growth reflects the ongoing shift from traditional pay television to internet-based streaming, a transition that has accelerated as more households cut the cord. However, this evolution has also led to fragmented content availability, prompting services to negotiate frequently with networks for carriage rights.

The $15 increase for the affected plan represents a notable adjustment, potentially influencing subscriber decisions amid economic pressures on household budgets. Fubo has not detailed whether similar changes might apply to other plans in the future but emphasized that the hike directly corresponds to the value added through NBC content. Subscribers seeking to review their options can access account details through the Fubo app or website.

This announcement arrives as the live television streaming market matures. Providers continue to refine their offerings in response to viewer preferences for flexibility, customization, and comprehensive sports access. The return of NBC to Fubo underscores the dynamic nature of these agreements, which can significantly shape the viewing landscape for millions of households.

In summary, Fubo’s decision to reinstate NBC channels enhances its programming depth while necessitating a corresponding price modification. The service aims to deliver increased value through expanded sports and local content, aligning with its core mission as a dedicated live TV streamer. Customers are encouraged to monitor communications from Fubo for precise details on implementation in their areas. (Word count: 612)
