Superman and The Boys are flying high after the Critics Choice Association unveiled the nominees for the 6th annual Critics Choice Super Awards, celebrating the very best in the genres of Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, and Action across movies and television.
On the film side, James Gunn’s Superman leads the pack with six nominations, including a nod for Best Superhero Movie. The Man of Steel also dominated the acting arena: David Corenswet, Edi Gathegi, and Nicholas Hoult all landed nominations for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie, while Hoult also secured a spot in the Best Villain category. Rachel Brosnahan rounds out the film’s impressive showing with a nomination for Best Actress in a Superhero Movie.
Films trailing closely with four nominations each include Masters of the Universe, Obsession, Project Hail Mary, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Weapons.
Over on the TV side, Prime Video‘s hit superhero satire The Boys reigns supreme with five total nominations, including Best Superhero Series; star Antony Starr pulling double duty in Best Actor in a Superhero Series and Best Villain; and Valorie Curry and Colby Minifie facing off for Best Actress in a Superhero Series category.
Fallout, House of the Dragon, and Paradise each netted four nominations.
Winners will be announced via press release on Aug. 6.
